Looking at the figures, it seems very likely that Trump has won a second term. How that will affect the world remains to be seen.?

Galaxy Wed 04-Nov-20 08:06:01

I dont think it does.

Oopsadaisy4 Wed 04-Nov-20 08:13:35

I hope I’m wrong but I think lemon that you might be right, as Biden couldn’t remember which GC was standing next to him yesterday (or even what sex the poor girl was) I think that the US voters might not want him.

Gwyneth Wed 04-Nov-20 08:13:44

It’s close but I don’t think Trump will win

Lollin Wed 04-Nov-20 08:14:49

I think it could

ninathenana Wed 04-Nov-20 08:18:32

Very sad to say, I think he will win
I've been dreading it but expecting it.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 04-Nov-20 08:18:40

Trump on 213 Biden on 220, it’s not over yet.

Grandma70s Wed 04-Nov-20 08:23:19

It all looks like the madder parts of Alice in Wonderland. Could any sane country vote Trump in again? Not that the alternative is wonderful either. Very depressing.

Bathsheba Wed 04-Nov-20 08:27:08

Oh Lordy, I think he will win, but the thought of another four years of him is even more depressing than Covid.

Oopsadaisy4 Wed 04-Nov-20 08:28:31

Oh God, now Farage is on ......... claiming postal voter fraud, which apparently is rampant in the U.K. and is a problem in the US , Andrew Neal will sort him out!

Nortsat Wed 04-Nov-20 08:28:38

Let’s not jump the gun ...
I can’t bear it ... if he wins another term I will despair.

Oopsadaisy4 Wed 04-Nov-20 08:31:04

If he loses he is going to claim postal voter fraud and will contest it, if he wins then obviously there is No postal voter fraud.
So far there is no reason to suspect fraud.
Either way we haven’t seen the last of Trump

sodapop Wed 04-Nov-20 08:31:24

Trump wants to stop the voting now. Not sure if its more about Republican v Democrat than actual personalities.
I don't understand the electoral college thing.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 04-Nov-20 08:32:05

I am living in a world I no longer recognise.

It is very unsettling

Grannynannywanny Wed 04-Nov-20 08:33:41

Andrew Neil interviewing the odious Farage who is holed up in the Trump hotel. I hope he stays in the US and doesn’t return to the UK to inflict more of his crap on us.

I've had a feeling of doom about the outcome of this election for a couple of weeks. It's reminded me of the build up to Brexit, when it became obvious that the Leave campaign had more pizzazz and enthusiasm, told more lies and encouraged hope in some. I feel that's what Trump has done.
I hope for a Biden win because four more years of the orange one isn't positive news for the US for the rest of us.

Oldwoman70 Wed 04-Nov-20 08:38:31

The thought of either of these men running America scares me witless. Biden appears to be showing signs of dementia, he forgot Trumps name in a broadcast and introduced his grand daughter as his dead son. As for Trump - well he is Trump!

There is a theory that if Biden wins he will quickly be deemed unfit and Kamala Harris will take over.

Oopsminty Wed 04-Nov-20 08:39:07

Not sure Trump will win

But it's all getting messy

JenniferEccles Wed 04-Nov-20 08:49:36

It’s too soon to tell yet.
Counting hasn’t even started in some key states.
Trump apparently has done better in some states than the polls predicted so it could be on a knife edge.
I had a feeling all along that he could prove the pollsters wrong just as he did in 2016 !

Biden’s mental state is very worrying, even allowing for understandable tiredness after the last frantic couple of weeks.

MaizieD Wed 04-Nov-20 08:53:01

It's not over yet but I don't know why anyone is surprised by Trump's actions. He's doing exactly what he's benn saying he would for months. If it looks as though he was losing he'd call it a fraud.

The question is, how robust is US electoral law and how does the politicisation of the judiciary affect its interpretation?

Kandinsky Wed 04-Nov-20 08:58:25

He’ll win.
I know it’s hard to believe ( to many left wingers on here ) but millions of Americans love him. Just like millions of people here love Nigel Farage.

Iam64 Wed 04-Nov-20 08:59:38

One of the worries is that Biden's health and age led some wavering voters to realise Kamala Harris could soon be Potus. A black woman president may be a bridge too far in such a divided country. Disgraceful white supremacists.

Jane10 Wed 04-Nov-20 09:01:25

This is appalling. How can he say he's won when millions of votes have not been counted? It makes a mockery of democracy. If he, somehow, cheats his way to winning, if I was American I'd certainly take to the streets to protest (for the first time in my life).
A Trump win under his legal case to discount crucial votes would be not right, fair or decent.

Now there's a result I could live with... I think. Don't know much about her, though, do we?

Galaxy Wed 04-Nov-20 09:19:30

Just listening to someone on the radio saying many outside of Anerica hold a kind of collective delusion about trump and his supporters because we dont understand it and just cant comprehend it. I dont think the Farage thing is the same because as an individual he doesnt win in elections.
