Desperately keeping Cummings (sorry)

Fight with Carrie. One aide has left. Cummings threatening to walk out (let him go was the cry!). But still. Why is she interfering? They're bad enough without WAGS getting involved.

This is a tough one to take a principled stand on ????

suziewoozie Thu 12-Nov-20 09:46:44

If I were CS I wouldn’t leave little Wilfred unattended atm ( joke btw)

MawB2 Thu 12-Nov-20 09:55:18

On the basis that “my enemy’s enemy is my friend ” I’d say “Go, girl” to Carrie.
PS I know it’s not true, the middle east has shown it all too clearly, but to see Cummings going (sorry) is too tempting.

MaizieD Thu 12-Nov-20 10:01:08

Johnson wouldn't have a clue what to do if Cummings went.

Anyway, it was reported last night that he's hanging on to finish completely buggering up all institutions of government the job he started...

Woo Boris being bossed about by Carrie and Allegra. Girl Power!!!!

suziewoozie Thu 12-Nov-20 10:03:49

DC won’t go imo but he’s a powerful mixture of both getting mad and getting even simultaneously.⚠️Carrie

biba70 Thu 12-Nov-20 10:06:58

With Carrie on this one for sure.

But what a mess, Covid out of hand and at the most crucial stage of getting a Deal with the EU, with 6 weeks to go- and they are spending all their energy and time fighting with each other.

This is diabolical and truly worrying.

SillyNanny321 Thu 12-Nov-20 10:43:23

Good girl Carrie. Get rid of Cummings he is poison!

frenchie Thu 12-Nov-20 10:43:54

Agree with you biba70
What an utter mess it all is.

spabbygirl Thu 12-Nov-20 10:50:16

it is indeed a mess at the time the country needs good gov't most, like New Zealand. What the heck does Carrie have to do with gov't? Since when was she elected? Does Boris actually do anything? He couldn't cope if DC or Carrie left could he? What a total shambles! I agree biba & MaizieD

Someone needs to tell Boris where he is going wrong, he won’t listen to anyone else ! Re Cummings .... better late than never, he should’ve gone months ago when he 1st broke the lockdown rules !

GillT57 Thu 12-Nov-20 10:58:58

What a bloody mess. Jenrick a man of little principle and even more self awareness was talking over the interviewer on R4 this morning, telling her that this matter was only of importance to political journalists. Well, he obviously hasn't lifted the lid on GN! He was trying to convince everyone that the government was working night and day to deal with the biggest issue of the day; Covid, no mention of the looming disaster that is Brexit. Allegra Stratton by the way, is married to the political editor of The Spectator.

Cummings should have done the right thing and resigned in the first wave of the pandemic when he was under the impression that he could break all the lockdown rules and nothing would be said.
Some people may have followed instructions a little better if it wasn't for him.

suziewoozie Thu 12-Nov-20 11:07:13

I have watched the rise and rise of RJ with puzzlement over the last few months. He is clearly their send out person now and I’m trying to work out what he’s got on whom

kwest Thu 12-Nov-20 11:30:16

Well jolly well let him go then!

NoddingGanGan Thu 12-Nov-20 11:33:37

Carrie needs to get back into the nursery. The country voted for Boris, not her.

GagaJo Thu 12-Nov-20 11:38:56

Or Cummings.

luluaugust Thu 12-Nov-20 11:42:14

I don't know why but I Claudius comes to mind!

Leolady73 Thu 12-Nov-20 11:44:23

I know I’m old fashioned but have objected all along to Johnson taking his then girlfriend to live in no 10 - what an example to our young people. Now she is determining Government personnel

icanhandthemback Thu 12-Nov-20 11:51:09

I'd love to know what proof there is that Carrie vetoed the appointment of Cain. However, isn't she somebody with experience in the Communications area and therefore might have an opinion that is worth listening to? I suspect that the truth is that she is not alone in her worries about Cain and Cummings (the two C's) and that it was more a collective input that has caused the rift rather than Carrie alone but blaming her makes good headlines.
Personally, I think Boris needs to listen to women more, not less. He might not be having the problems he is having if he did.

Matelda Thu 12-Nov-20 11:53:47

I find all the jeering comments about Carrie Symonds being a WAG and needing to get back into the nursery quite upsetting. She is a former Director of Communications for the Conservative Party, just like Lee Cain - oh, but of course he's a man!

Sheilasue Thu 12-Nov-20 12:04:20

Just keeping my fingers x Cummings does go. Don’t know where they dug him up from.

leeds22 Thu 12-Nov-20 12:10:43

Frightening to read today that Cain was running the country for 2 weeks while Boris was fighting for his life, by-passing Raab.
