I watched Johnson being interviewed by Marr, and was in high hopes that he would manage 15 minutes without lying.

Well he so nearly managed it until the last minute. Then out it popped.

Poor old Johnson, what a cross to bear, never managing to open your mouth or putting pen to paper without lying.

Calendargirl Sun 03-Jan-21 10:36:46

What was the lie then ?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 03-Jan-21 10:38:32

Did you watch it?

kittylester Sun 03-Jan-21 10:39:38

I watched most of it - what was the lie?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 03-Jan-21 10:40:42

This is a summary of the interview in case you missed it.

To summarise what Johnson is saying to #Marr, it’s that he will continue to stay behind the curve, reacting too late to every warning that he’s being given.

The Conservative Party is deliberately deceiving the public and should be prosecuted for fraud. The EU banned pulse fishing on 13 February 2019 to take effect in 2021.

Calendargirl Sun 03-Jan-21 10:45:34

Yes, I watched it.

I thought Boris waffled quite a bit as usual, and hedged any questions he didn’t like, as per usual, but didn’t notice any particular lie at the end.

Digressing somewhat, am pleased to see he looks well and much more his old self, although I agree with the comment on another thread that he is losing his trademark hair and having to ruffle it even more than normal to try and disguise the fact.

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 03-Jan-21 10:50:37

‘An Englishman talking to a Scot’ is the reply that Andrew Marr gave when BJ accused him of not being optimistic about the UKs recovery. If AM can’t be unbiased he shouldn’t be on a News programme

Maybe BJ wouldn’t waffle so much if Andrew Marr didn’t constantly interrupt him, as he always does.

Urmstongran Sun 03-Jan-21 10:58:03

I thought Andrew Marr heckled him. I wished he’d shut up and given Boris a proper chance to answer. What was the lie? I missed the last 2 minutes as I had a phone to answer!

timetogo2016 Sun 03-Jan-21 10:59:57

I can`t watch Andrew Marr because as Oopsadaisy said,he constantly interrupts.

Beckett Sun 03-Jan-21 11:01:19

Oh good, the daily anti-Tory, anti-government, anti-Boris thread - for a minute there I thought I had missed it!

Lucretzia Sun 03-Jan-21 11:04:43

Andrew Marr is not a great interviewer.

He was battling to talk over Boris all the time. Just like the lamentable Piers Morgan.

Witzend Sun 03-Jan-21 11:05:44

Dh loves Andrew Marr.
I don’t watch him. Went right off him after the incident when he - as a righteously truth-seeking journalist! - tried to get a super-injunction slapped on something that was about to come out about (IIRC) a child he’d fathered.

NotSpaghetti Sun 03-Jan-21 11:06:06

I think this is shocking (pardon the pun)...
So we are back to the old trick of blaming the EU for things we don’t want to take responsibility for and patting ourselves on the back for EU achievements.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 03-Jan-21 11:06:10

Beckett

Oh good, the daily anti-Tory, anti-government, anti-Boris thread - for a minute there I thought I had missed it!

What I find puzzling is that those lamenting the anti- government threads don’t start a thread praising HMG and pointing out the good stuff.

Bit weird.

Anniebach Sun 03-Jan-21 11:08:09

What was the lie ?

GagaJo Sun 03-Jan-21 11:09:00

What you said WWM.

Possibly because of the abuse they would receive from the anti-Torys on here, the reason I don't post very often

And the abuse we receive from the government supporters, - does that not count?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 03-Jan-21 11:13:52

Anniebach

What was the lie ?

First lie was about the pulse fishing. He just couldn’t stop himself. He didn’t need to, the interview hadn’t mentioned fishing.

It is a cross he has to bear poor man.

Beckett Sun 03-Jan-21 11:14:39

When I read through the threads most of the abuse comes from those on the left - if some on the right retaliate that is regrettable but not unsurprising

Urmstongran Sun 03-Jan-21 11:16:00

On GN we are in the minority.
?
Political threads are usually an echo chamber of anti Boris cheerleaders all lined up, waiting for a peck.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 03-Jan-21 11:19:07

Well if you aren’t willing to start a Tory Love thread then stop dripping on about the anti-Tory threads.

Beckett Sun 03-Jan-21 11:21:11

Oh - so you are now dictating what threads I can and cannot comment on - sorry to disappoint you.

I am off to do something much more interesting - like watching paint dry

Gwyneth Sun 03-Jan-21 11:27:23

Beckett so did I ...thought I’d missed it. Don’t know how I would have got through the day without the usual Boris Bashing just for the sake of it! Andrew Marr is left wing anyway. Anyone on his show who isn’t a leftie always gets a hard time. Still waiting to hear what the lie was?
