So no money actually changed hands. It is the considered value of what is claimed to be a tax subsidy.

That’s brilliant news - a friend’s sister lives there and she says they’ve had four times the number of deaths per head than my county!

My friends, same age as me live in Gib and they had both their jabs well before I'd had my first one.
Restaurants and most shops opened a couple of weeks ago and swimming pools this week. To be fair, the population have stuck rigidly to the rules and even wore masks outside, so I hope things go well for them. The only problem will be workers who come over the border from Spain every day, as their vaccination programme is very poor.
I've had a flight changed three times from April 2020 to eventually October this year, fingers crossed, all being well, I'll make it this year.

Sorry to put a dampener on things, but didn’t the Isle of Man recently unlock only to lockdown again? It worries me that this virus doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.

The sensible folk in Gib have good reason to be thankful now that we did leave the EU...otherwise they would still be waiting for vaccines.

As they could have done had we all had the sense to vote Remain.*lemon*. There was no reason that EU membership could have made any difference to our vaccine rollout.

We should be proud of the success of covid vaccine resear h in the UK but we should not forget that the biggest funder of the Jenner Institute was, until recently, the European Commission.

The French were manufacturing a vaccine which they hoped the EU would be able to use and it failed.

That was my thought too, Gib's about the size of a very small town in the UK, used to drive all round it in about half an hour if the tunnels were open, probably different now.

Oh pull the other one - if we had stayed in the EU, we'd also be lagging behind with the vaccine rollout, same as they are. We've left the EU, thank goodness, time to move on.
