Covid funeral rules ..yes it's about PP funeral

The rules say only 30 people can attend a funeral and a lot has been made of the fact that the RF are following this rule. Now it seems that 30 people are going to be in the chapel but 750 members of the armed forces will be in attendance to do a bit of marching and band playing.

How come 30 means 30 to the rest of us but 30 can be 780 for this funeral?

Not being particularly anti RF. Just seems an unnecessary Covid spreading risk.

I haven’t a clue what you’re talking about, bu whatever it is, you sound quite unnecessarily aggressive.

Bizarrely, I passed a Royal funeral convoy yesterday, I think it must have been the German side of the of the family. This happened whilst I was trying to avoid the funeral coverage confused

I felt sorry for the Queen, it made me cry a bit blush <--I'd had an emotional day/week.... the Queen is always dignified and always leads the country by example - she really will be a hard act to follow. I am pleased her lady in waiting was with her.

I’m afraid I’m guilty of not looking at the date, I apologise to you for not checking.

You could also apologise for your unfair criticising of others then as could anyone who rode to your support without bothering to RTFT

I didn't start this thread on the day of the funeral as some people seem to think. I'm not a RF lover but there is a time to criticise and a time to respect. I would never have started this thread on the day of the funeral and I wasn't going to post out of respect for those who are genuinely upset but I felt I had to put the record straight.

Granny I think you’ve completely missed the point

And who are ‘we’ are you speaking on behalf of all of GN?

The evil band if Republicans ?

I expect it was the Queen’s decision that she would sit alone. I have no secret sources so I’m only making suggestions.
Apart from the Covid rules, possibly she sat alone as a gesture of respect for all those families who have lost someone during Covid and couldn’t have their family close, also to avoid opportunity for more backbiting that there would have been in the media if she had had family sitting with her.
She can’t be totally unaware of all the nasty comments that have been made since the death of her husband.
It was a lovely service, which she shared with those in the world who wanted to watch it and it respected Prince Philip’s wishes for his funeral.
I hope she can have some peace to mourn.

I've just been watching the beginning of the funeral and I can see no problem with numbers at all. All the bandsmen/ women were properly distanced and in the open air. I get closer to other people when I'm going round Waittrose.

I'd love to know what the likes of Donald Trump would say about the Landrover hearse. He wouldn't get it at all.

Anniebach I agree it was poignant to see the Queen seated alone, I agree but I imagine she will have been clear about what she wanted, as far as restrictions allowed.

nadateturbe Sat 17-Apr-21 20:34:19

Good point Anniebach about the cameras. But she did look very lonely.

I didn’t notice that. But I still feel quite saddened by all the criticism.

Well no ones criticised today because we know how to behave. Perhaps you could take a leaf out of our book.

What nasty and uncalled for comment SW.

Anniebach Sat 17-Apr-21 20:14:36

BlueBelle I thought her sitting in the choir stall was wise, no
camera could film her face from left or right side, with head bowed her face couldn’t be seen.

If someone had sat with her there would have been complaints.

She did look so lonely, it was upsetting to see someone so alone.

Excuse me?
What is that supposed to mean?

One of her sons sat a couple of seats away from her. I am sure that if she had wanted someone to sit right beside her, it would have been arranged.

BlueBelle Sat 17-Apr-21 19:54:27

Thanks *annibach’ well her son should have sat with her then horrendous leaving the poor old gal all on her own like that

I hate all this, can’t we just have one day before people start criticising everything?
No, obviously not!
I know the Royal Family can never do right for doing wrong, but this was a dignified send off for a much loved family member, who also happened to be a Prince.

This thread was started a couple of days ago, and the first post today was one criticising the people who started it. So you did have one day without people criticising everything, at least the republicans had enough dignity to stay off the thread on the day of the man's funeral. More than can be said for the monarchists.

Exactly. And the other thread as well. Just leave off with your unfair criticisms and generalisations Sara not a good look.

nadateturbe Sat 17-Apr-21 19:35:34

This is no time for criticism and finding fault.. I felt do sorry for the Queen. She must be lost without her lifelong partner. The music was beautiful and you could not help but be moved. The family are people just like the rest of us and this must have been a very difficult day for them.

“It was a lovely service on a lovely day, and very dignified.”
Absolutely rafichagran! Liked the idea of the Land Rover, I bet it’ll catch on! Any particular reason why the Queen had to sit completely on her own? Perhaps Prince Charles and Princess Anne could have been by her side, socially distanced?

Anniebach Sat 17-Apr-21 19:21:05

BlueBell* Sophie and Edward don’t live in Windsor, Andrew and Fergie, Eugenie and husband do, in houses in the grounds

Ellianne Sat 17-Apr-21 19:18:42

Well I think the RF were setting an impeccable example regarding covid. They acted with the utmost decorum in a very difficult situation.

I guess this thread opened with criticism and now we can unpick all the speculation for better or for worse.
