Next GE - tactical voting

Farage has been approached by the Tories to field candidates tactically so as not to split the Leave votes. The Brexit Party will field candidates in the northern constituencies.

Farage is interested as he wants Brexit on 31 October and knows his party isn’t strong enough to do it alone. The Tories need a majority in government to deliver it (so they say) and more Brexit MP’s will enable this to happen.

Talks are ‘on going’.

Sounds like chickens giving the Fox the spare key to their hen house.

paddyann Mon 17-Jun-19 11:57:20

no tactical voting here ,hopefully the whole of Scotland will unite behind the SNP who have been the only party to talk any sense during the past 3 messy years .If we can turn the map yellow the same as we did in the EU vote then we'll go for Independence as it confirms our mandate .It is my lifes dream to be free of Westminster and the call is growing louder every day .

Grandma70s Mon 17-Jun-19 12:30:42

How do I vote tactically in order to ensure we remain?

crystaltipps Mon 17-Jun-19 12:37:42

Farage wouldn’t have enough candidates with any gravitas to contest every constituency, let alone win. He’s probably wheedle enough money out of gullible pensioners, but he’ll spend that on his suits and getting his teeth done.

Firecracker123 Mon 17-Jun-19 12:56:11

Just shows how much you don't know Crystaltipps, the Brexit Party has nearly 3,000 prospective candidates they are interviewing them now to stand in the next General election whenever that may be and if the candidates are of the same calibre as the MEPs who have been elected the sky's the limit.

MaizieD Mon 17-Jun-19 13:10:11

But crystaltipps said 'candidates with any *gravitas', Firecracker.

suzied Mon 17-Jun-19 13:42:24

Same calibre as Anne Widdecombe? and how about the Brexit party candidate who didn't know that the EU didn't run our education system??

suzied Mon 17-Jun-19 13:43:18

That was the dim candidate they put up in Peterborough.

Devorgilla Mon 17-Jun-19 13:47:21

If they do such a deal there will be a price to pay - that ermine keeps getting closer.

Jane10 Mon 17-Jun-19 14:06:10

Dream on Paddyann! No surprise that you hope for this. You certainly have no chance of the entire electorate in Scotland getting behind SNP. They never have before and won't again.

Jabberwok Mon 17-Jun-19 14:16:26

Paddyann. Some of us feel the same way about the EU as you do about Westminster, so on both fronts, bring it on!!!

Callistemon Mon 17-Jun-19 14:38:57

the call is growing louder every day

Does that mean that the SNP shouts a lot?

suzied Mon 17-Jun-19 14:48:59

No the entire electorate wont vote for the SNP , but I bet they get more seats than the B.P.

Witzend Mon 17-Jun-19 14:58:34

Our constituency is always a toss up between Con and LD - Labour pretty much come nowhere and given that there was a heavy remain vote in the referendum, I don't expect the Brexit lot to do very well.
I shall be voting LD and I fully expect our Tory MP to be out of a job. He is a very good constituency MP however so from that POV it will be a bit of a shame.

Callistemon Mon 17-Jun-19 15:02:14

In the last GE the SNP won 3% of the vote, the Lib Dems 7.4%
The SNP certainly got more seats than the Lib Dems, 35 seats -v- 12 seats.

Is that fair?
Are the Scots over-represented at Westminster?

Jane10 Mon 17-Jun-19 15:05:38

Yes!

Firecracker123 Mon 17-Jun-19 15:16:10

Insults and smears doesn't change the fact that the Brexit Party is top of the election polls and the Peterborough election win by Labour is being investigated with 5 allegations of fraud.

Overthehills Mon 17-Jun-19 15:24:43

I don’t want to be rude to you Paddyann but I think your life’s dream would be most of Scotland’s worst nightmare.

crystaltipps Mon 17-Jun-19 16:03:29

Top of the polls means nothing as we have seen in previous polls. Maybe they’ll be investigating the dodgy money Farage gets. Might be more honest to look at % votes SNP get in Scotland, as the rest of the country can’t vote for them ?

Firecracker123 Mon 17-Jun-19 17:53:53

I'd watch what you say Crystaltipps, Alyn Smith SNP MEP has had to make a grovelling apology after making false allegations of Brexit Party money laundering. Richard Tice The Brexit Party chairman took him to court he's had to pay his legal costs and make a donation to Help the Heroes. The allegations were all untrue. Another attempt to to smear the Brexit Party that failed.

Callistemon Mon 17-Jun-19 18:01:39

Might be more honest to look at % votes SNP get in Scotland, as the rest of the country can’t vote for them
Are you saying, then, that if the RUK could vote SNP, therefore for Scottish independence, they might do so?
