Has Anyone Changed Their Mind?

Despite all the views put forward by both Remainers and Leavers it seems to me that the opinions on both sides are decidedly entrenched. Earlier in the year I listened a lot to James O'Brien who often had Leavers on his programme who regretted their decision.

Remainers are often quoted as wishing that the politicians would get on with it, (whatever that is) and this is often interpreted as a change of heart. I personally don't think that is the case. However, i would like to know whether there are any on here, from either camp, who have changed their mind, and if so, why.

I voted leave and would do so again in a heartbeat. I am sick of Remainers always quoting Leavers as having changed their mind and not knowing what they were voting for. We had the same post on here last year and in fact I recall a couple of Remainers' changing their mind and would now vote to leave, no leavers regretted their decision but overwhelmingly everyone would vote the same again hence a second referendum would be an expensive mistake. No one I know in person would change their vote I have asked about 60 people.

I didn't say that the Leavers who changed their minds did so because they didn't know what they were voting for, However, I did hear Leavers say that they had changed their minds. More than one man was in tears when he spoke.

That ws last year. This is now.

It's just a myth that Leavers now want to remain, everyone I know leavers and a couple of remainers now want to leave the EU on the 31st October 2019 deal or no deal. No ifs no buts just leave, no second referendum, no extensions.

I voted to leave and would do so again. My sister voted to remain, but would vote leave in any new referendum, as she has changed her mind. She was undecided at first, and attended a remain meeting which persuaded her to vote the way she did.
She thinks she made a mistake.

kittylester Tue 25-Jun-19 14:41:05

I voted remain but am be one of the people who would say get on with it because, if we ARE going, we should blinking well get on with it rather than having all this instability.

Though I would like another referendum!

Maybelle Tue 25-Jun-19 14:54:15

Voted leave, and would do so again.

mumofmadboys Tue 25-Jun-19 15:01:24

Voted remain and would vote the same. Would very much like a second referendum.

EllanVannin Tue 25-Jun-19 15:05:14

I voted Remain and stick by it.

PamelaJ1 Tue 25-Jun-19 15:12:39

I voted leave and would still like to.
I have talked to a few people who voted like me but regret the bad feeling that it created. They haven’t changed their minds but are unhappy about the way it has all been conducted.

Kittylester

I too voted remain, but if we’re going, let’s just go!

I think another referendum may be just as close, and then we’re back where we started

Sandiiee Tue 25-Jun-19 15:16:33

I think there should be a 2nd referendum, but what happens is Leave win again - best out of 5. I am sick and tired of MP's telling me I don't understand, I'm too old, I'm racist, we can't live without the EU, we will starve, we will have no medicine. Just look in your cupboards and fridges and see where the produce that we buy regularly comes from. I have a cucumber from Belgium, flowers from Holland, strawberries from Spain, French wine, Italian tinned tomatoes. These things are readily available from the UK, but what will the EU do with their excess produce if it cannot be supplied to us?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 25-Jun-19 15:18:32

Of course we are a particular demography on this forum.

The opinion polls do not bear out that people have not changed their minds.

Remain is in the lead and increasing its lead every month.

There is an 8% gap now.

Day6 Tue 25-Jun-19 15:27:33

I voted Leave and wouldn't change my mind.

I am angry with our politicians who are making it as difficult as possible to leave. We do need to get on with it - the waiting and political point scoring delays are benefiting no one. Businesses have accepted we are out too but the UK has created uncertainty and deadlock which will be damaging in the long term.

My Remainer friends want us out now too (Yes, they too are saying "Just get on with it!")

Sara65 Tue 25-Jun-19 15:32:01

To be fair, if I was a leaver, I’d be fuming!

I don’t want to leave, but we’ve voted to leave, so leave we must!

Shoequeen53 Tue 25-Jun-19 15:44:23

Remainer here who would move heaven and earth to make sure we stay.

Happiyogi Tue 25-Jun-19 15:48:02

From today's Guardian:

A Survation poll for the Mail on Sunday found 54% for remain, 46% for leave. Did you miss that? That's because the Brexit-backing paper omitted it from its report, but it's on the Survation site. Also missing was Survation's Westminster result: Labour in the lead on 26%, Tories 24%, Brexit party 20%, Liberal Democrats 18%. Add in 11% for the Greens, Scottish National party and Plaid Cymru combined, and in total remainers are well ahead of the leavers.

goldengirl Tue 25-Jun-19 15:58:03

I voted Leave but it's taken so long and the Government is incapable of coming to an agreement amongst themselves let alone Brussels that I'm now thinking Remain is the way to go until we get ministers who know how to negotiate properly. What a bunch!

yggdrasil Tue 25-Jun-19 16:02:19

'Just get on with it' is a cry of desperation. We know the economy and business will be in real trouble, especially if we leave with no deal. (It already is beginning). But the infighting in the Tory party is interminable.
The sooner something is decided, the sooner we can change the government and try to start repairing the damage

Day6 Tue 25-Jun-19 16:05:32

Please remember, Cameron went to Brussels in early 2016 to try and gain concessions that would have made the referendum unnecessary.

The fact that he came back, having been ignored and virtually had no power within the EU to negotiate, made my mind up for me.

I do not want the UK to be a galley slave on a ship steered by Brussels.

lemongrove Tue 25-Jun-19 16:09:56

Am very much still of the same opinion ( to leave)

Whitewavemark2 Tue 25-Jun-19 16:11:46

Florid language day6 ?galley slave? ?

I’m afraid it said more about Cameron’s poor negotiating skills. Thatcher would not have been ignored nor Blair. And indeed neither of them were. In fact we as a country have been the most influential of any in the EU.

BlueBelle Tue 25-Jun-19 16:12:11

I voted REMAIN and will carry on voting for remain for the future of my country, the peace of Europe where I feel a lot happier and safer than with US and the Trump, for my children and my grandchildren I feel even more passionate about it now than ever and none of my friends have changed apart from one leaver who now wants to remain
I don’t want my family (that I will leave behind) to suffer years of depression and austerity and would encourage them to emigrate sooner that stay here with all the uncertainty and bitter divide

Sara65 Tue 25-Jun-19 16:13:42

I never wanted to leave, I was beyond shocked at the referendum result, I feel everything about it is wrong. But we cannot go on like this, we have, like it or not, voted to leave, we’ve got to get on with it, and try and make the best of things

Oddly, my friend who voted to leave, now thins maybe we should remain, we never discussed it till recently, as we both felt so strongly, but I think now, we’re both sick of it all
