I am under the impression that the negotiations will continue up until 31st October so there is still time for a deal.

Wasn’t this dismissed as being part of “project fear” if UK left with no deal which she didn’t want?

I only remember a no deal being dismissed as being ridiculous as the EU needed the U.K. so much there would be a ready made deal better than the one we were participating in.

I wasn't really asking about that, GG13. I just wanted to know if Leave voters recalled being told ,ideally by the Leave campaigners, that a 'no deal' was a possibility and that it would mean job losses.

I honestly cannot remember anything about job losses from those campaigning for the leave vote in the event of no deal

Since yours was the first post answering the OP.....then hardly!

The answer is yes, it was talked about openly by politicians before the vote.. not that jobs would be lost, but that they could be lost depending on how things were.There would also be some disruption ( maybe quite a bit!) that was also talked of a lot.

I remember being told that leaving could mean job losses. But, in comparison with the job losses that have occurred and will still occur due to the covid pandemic, it will be a mere drop in the ocean (if they happen).

You see, I didn't take a huge amount of interest in what was being claimed by either side as I already knew what my vote would be (and would still be). So I'm not recollecting anything much. But it seems so unlikely that Leave campaigners would be mentioning any negative consequences.

Maizie I don't remember Leavers telling us that there woud be job losses. I do remember Remainers saying that there would be and some Brexiters said that they didn't mind because wanted to leave whatever the cost.

Some businesses will go under, others will thrive- the same as it's always been in the corporate world. One thing is for sure, if you don't support British companies and farmers then they certainly will not survive. So it's up to YOU, the consumer, not to buy foreign produced goods.

Look in your cupboards, your garage and on your drive and see what buying habits you can change. It's no good moaning about loss of jobs if you are buying foreign imported goods thus putting our own workers at risk of losing theirs.

I've always wanted no deal because we will be in a stronger negotiating position once free of the EU entirely when they realise that they can't tell us what to do any longer. I think that other member states will follow us soon too. Discontent has been brewing in the air for far too long, the whole thing will implode soon from within.....HOPEFULLY.

Another thing- it's time for Remainers to give up, you lost, we've bloody left!!!

Also, I could give you many examples of jobs which have been lost because the UK was a member of the EU but, I'm afraid, I can't be bothered because you wouldn't believe me anyway!!!

Although there were warnings about the negative consequenses of any kind of brexit, let alone a no-deal brexit, and these warnings were backed up with expert evidence, they were always dismissed as "project fear".

Heads in the sand, or at least fingers in ears, the true believers in brexit refused to listen, especially after Gove told them "the British people are fed up with experts".

The only problem quizqueen is yes whilst I am willing to support British industry and farmers so much is made in China which is not good for air miles. I was knitting the other day with Sirdar (good old English Company) only to discover the yarn was made in China.

But varian, those were warnings by Remainers. I'm trying to find out if there were any warnings from the Leave campaigners. Because that is what Leadsome appears to be implying. That Leave voters were warned by the Leave campaign.

I remember being told that Turkey were about to join the EU. And something about a EU army. And that companies such as Nissan had no intention of leaving this country if leave won. And that we held all the cards.
