The trip to Barnard Castle was ridiculous and it was almost insulting that he expected everyone to swallow the ‘testing my eyesight’ story.
However the trip to stay in a cottage on his parents’ farm is a different matter.
During the lockdown, under certain circumstances, childcare was exempt from the lockdown rules, but even if it hadn’t been, how could he have arranged safe childcare without breaking the rules? Nobody has answered that.
He couldn’t have had his nanny round to an infected household, neither could he have taken his child to the nanny. How then could he and his wife safely looked after their little boy whilst being ill with covid?
I have had flu just once and although I didn’t have it as badly as a lot of people I can say with absolute certainty that I would not have been fit to care for a small child.
Ok we all know that most people only have very mild symptoms with covid but they may have been severely affected.
They went in their car, they had their own cottage with his sister on hand if needed.
Under the same circumstances I suspect a lot of people would have done the same.
