So, no queues because no lorries?

Fabulous... ?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 04-Dec-20 12:40:06

European hauliers arent willing to put up with delay.
Delay = time=money.

I’m taking food orders. I’ll arrange to nip across to Citi de Europe every week on a food run??

Johnson is probably hoping that as we all bicker about who should or should not get the covid 19 vaccine, or get stuck back into lockdown after the Christmas mass re-infection of families, we will not notice the food shortages.

He's been talking to Baldrick, who can always be guaranteed to have a cunning plan. grin hmm It's been labelled Operation "Chat mort".

Actually if it gets very serious the plan to nip over isn’t quite so daft really. A group could pay for the shuttle fare and someone with a good sized car could nip over. It’s only 35 mins in shuttle and citi de Europe is 5 minutes away.

We used to regularly do it to get alcohol.

I must look at the customs regulations.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 04-Dec-20 13:19:48

Oh phytosanitary certificate☹️☹️☹️. It seems that food for individual use may needed.

Bugger never needed it before if course.

MayBee70 Fri 04-Dec-20 13:49:16

Isn’t the shuttle in financial difficulties at the moment?

GillT57 Fri 04-Dec-20 14:07:09

Actually WWMk2 I would argue that my cases of wine from Calais are a medical necessity given the mess we are likely to be in come January. I can meet you on the QE2 bridge to hand over payment?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 04-Dec-20 14:17:54

Excellent idea. QE2 it is, particularly as the shuttle may close I am thinking of going across in a rowing boat, so that makes sense.

Nah! Not if Ms Patel gets her giant wave machines to deter capsize small boats.

growstuff Fri 04-Dec-20 14:22:00

Opps! Delete "deter".

growstuff Fri 04-Dec-20 14:22:45

Won't you be quarantined on your return?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 04-Dec-20 14:28:01

Not sure whether quarantined or not as it all lost me about 6 months ago.

It’s got to be worth the effort though. I could explore the possibility of hiring a submarine.

MayBee70 Fri 04-Dec-20 14:31:11

What will channel swimmers do now? Has anyone, at any time spared a thought for channel swimmers. They are the forgotten collateral damage of,well, just about everything. Probably won’t even be able to get goose fat, either.

I have this vision of you WWMk2 valiantly baling out your inflatable dinghy as you near Dover, trying to ignore Farage shouting from the cliff tops "turn on the wave machine Pritti, she is only here to get a council house" But then you see me huddled on the beach, waving a cork screw and you battle on, using only a rolled up Daily Mail to row ever onwards.

growstuff Fri 04-Dec-20 14:45:51

grin grin grin

MayBee70 Fri 04-Dec-20 14:48:00

Brilliant!

Whitewavemark2 Fri 04-Dec-20 14:56:09

Maybe if WwMk2 were to shout that she's got him some cheap beer and fags he might let her through...

GillT57 Fri 04-Dec-20 15:16:57

yes you are probably right Maizie, but don't take a cheque from him WWMk2.

Oh he’s rolling in it look at all the money that went into his company of which he is the sole director. I shall insist on some of those missing bank notes.

GillT57 Fri 04-Dec-20 15:32:24

Well, Farage has all those donations sent by the guillible believers to his Brexit party, and he will soon have more coming from those daft enough to get involved in his new investment venture. Plenty to pay for a few cigars, but then again, hasn't he secured EU citizenship for his family?

quizqueen Fri 04-Dec-20 15:38:36

If you all supported this country and bought British goods, you wouldn't have to worry about buying foreign food items, will you?
