The former Metropolitan police chief John Stevens has disclosed that he questioned Prince Charles over allegations that he had plotted to kill Diana, Princess of Wales.

Charles was interviewed as a witness in 2005, during a three-year investigation into Diana’s death in a Paris car crash in 1997, the Daily Mail reported.

I would have been more surprised if he hadn't been.

Diana’s brother in law was questioned at the inquest, it was claimed he had flown to Paris , taken over the British Embassy,
took control of the police, and the hospital .

It was always a question of who but they should have looked at their own secret service first, which would never happen of course. She was a threat. All in the past now, probably best forgotten.

She and Dodi al Fayed suddenly and unpredictably decided to leave their hotel late at night. They were safe there, albeit surrounded by paparazzi outside the hotel. Their driver was, apparently, under the influence and driving at a high speed too fast for the route. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Others – Secret Service, Duke of Edinburgh, ex-husband, James Bond, Paddington Bear – didn't have to do a thing.

FannyCornforth Mon 21-Jun-21 05:05:12

BlueBelle

What brother in law anniebach ?

The husband of one of her sisters, perhaps?
You hardly ever hear of Diana's sisters.
Lord only knows what they think of it all...

Diana's brother in law is

Robert Fellowes, Baron Fellowes, GCB, GCVO, QSO, PC is a British courtier who was Private Secretary to Queen Elizabeth II from 1990 to 1999, and is also known as a brother-in-law of Diana, Princess of Wales, married her sister Jane.

eazybee Mon 21-Jun-21 08:26:47

Our french friends from the village we are twinned with were all convinced at the time of Diana's death that it was a plot orchestrated by Prince Philip.

your comment is spot on..

I read a book by ex MI5 spy Peter Wright, it was banned in britain for years People would be shocked at collateral damage that happens when a person is 'taken out.'

A very dim view was taken of Peter Wright and his book by those in ‘the Office’ - MI5 and 6- and much dismissed as self aggrandising exaggeration and fantasy.

MawBe Mon 21-Jun-21 08:40:22

I wish people would remember two simple but key facts- the driver of Diana and Dodi’s car was over the limit and they were not wearing seat belts.
How could Prince Philip or the U.K. security services possibly have second-guessed such a monumentally stupid course of action when they could just as easily have ducked out of sight and stayed in the Ritz overnight?

Anniebach Mon 21-Jun-21 08:51:38

It was the chap on a motor bike , he was seen by eyewitness,
a dog wearing a neckerchief was riding pillion , he swerved into
the car.

25Avalon Mon 21-Jun-21 08:56:43

Reading Diana’s letter you can see how paranoid she was becoming, a paranoia fed by Martin Bashir. If she really thought “they” were going to stage a car crash to kill her why on earth didn’t she have a seat belt on?
