I wouldn’t miss this for anything.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 25-May-22 11:48:35

He’s going to make a statement after PMQ.

Oldnproud Wed 25-May-22 12:17:17

Boris's comment a moment ago on PMQs makes me think that Universal Credit is to be increased.

MawtheMerrier Wed 25-May-22 12:23:03

Bring on the bread and circuses !
Bring on the clowns - "don't bother, they're here" ???

OakDryad Wed 25-May-22 12:23:12

Switched on and switched off after five minutes. Starmer raises the question of fuel poverty for people needing electronic aids to cope with disability and the long wait for passports. PM in full narcissistic meltdown shouts that he got Brexit done. Only so much one can take of a delusional madman. The front benches look very grim.

Lucca Wed 25-May-22 13:08:43

Vaccine roll out mentioned no matter whether relevant.

OakDryad Wed 25-May-22 13:12:42

Lower than a snake's belly and yet his party may let him slither out of this. Only those with an ounce of integrity can save this country now.

Esspee Wed 25-May-22 13:26:07

Every MP who supports him risks being unemployed after the next election.

OakDryad Wed 25-May-22 13:31:27

Which is why Richard Holden, whose career rise Johnson originally blocked after the sexual misconduct case against him but now working for Nadine Dorries, has made such a noise over Durham. A majority of only 1144 in a red wall seat is tenous indeed.

Zonne Wed 25-May-22 13:36:30

If they don’t back him, they risk being unemployed sooner, as he would probably call a general election early.

That speech was written by a lawyer, clearly. All words, no substance.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 25-May-22 13:37:54

Whenever Johnson spoke I’n sure my blood pressure rose! Vaccine roll out blah blah, Ukraine… worst of all - difficult to differentiate between work and socialising. Regardless of war in Europe, cost of living crisis. He has to go. He is an embarrassment.

Urmstongran Wed 25-May-22 13:45:47

Well it seems clear the civil servants at the top sent each other WhatsApp messages and made a conscious decision to flout the rules, then brag about it.

Shocking behaviour.

I blame Boris for taking his eye off the ball. He must have thought these very well paid civil servants were in control of their workforce. No wonder things have been changed since. It seems at the time of all this no one was in charge. These civil servants partied as though they were students on a Friday night, chuckled at the admonishments of the cleaning staff and one occasion set off a security alarm and at another Friday night gathering a fight broke out.

DiamondLily Wed 25-May-22 13:52:39

Well, he didn't try to appear sorry this time, just tried to throw civil servants under the bus.

He saw, heard, and attended most of these gatherings.

He might not have stayed long (who knows), but surely no one is seriously saying that if he had told them it was illegal, they wouldn't have packed up and left?

The buck stops at the top, he lied to Parliament, because he knew rules were being broken.

He's a disgrace.?

OakDryad Wed 25-May-22 13:57:53

Did my ears deceive me or was Johnson saying that it was acceptable to party as everyone was working so hard? Tell that to all the front line workers who keep essential services going and dropped into bed exhausted at the end of double-shifts.

Urmstongran Wed 25-May-22 14:05:24

Sue Gray’s conclusions now seem pretty mild after the hysteria of the police investigation. It’s time to move on.

I wouldn’t miss this for anything.

I would - got the school run today ?
Lovely!

I shall look at the thread later

Grandmabatty Wed 25-May-22 14:11:30

Working hard but started drinking at 4pm? Tell the health care workers that one. And no doubt someone will come on the thread to tell us that their cousin's brother in law who is a nurse stopped at three and took alcohol into work. He 'humbly' apologised which lasted a few minutes before his true lack of character appeared. This prime minister has no morals nor integrity. The time for resigning has long since gone. The conservative party are damned by continued support for him. What will it take for them to get rid of him?

Callistemon21 Wed 25-May-22 14:12:41

Oh dear, missed it.

Same old, same old?

Grandmabatty Wed 25-May-22 14:14:40

A direct quotation from Sue Gray report:

"I found that some staff had witnessed or been subjected to behaviours at work which they had felt concerned about...multiple examples of a lack of respect and poor treatment of security and cleaning staff"
So that's mild then?

Grandmabatty Wed 25-May-22 14:18:16

From the political editor of The Times
The worst of Gray report:

* Excessive drinking, staff being sick

* Partying until 4.35am on eve of Prince Phillip's funeral

* Red wine on walls

* Abuse of cleaning staff & security staff

* Warnings about parties ignored

* Martin Reynolds: 'We seem to have got away with it'
So this is also mild?

www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/andrew-marr/egregious-stinking-behaviour-instant-reaction-to-sue-grays-partygate-report/

Andrew Marr’s reaction to the report is far from mild. “Egregious stinking behaviour “ he says.
Oh yes, let’s do what we are told and move on. We are being taken for mugs.

J52 Wed 25-May-22 14:33:21

The only people to ‘move on’ are Johnson and his cronies.

Thank you Oak Dryad My son is a nurse, I almost threw something at the radio when I heard those words.

OakDryad Wed 25-May-22 15:03:31

garnet25 This is what Johnson does. It is all part of his plan to confuse. We start to question our own sanity about what we are hearing. Classic gaslighting by a narcissistic psychopath.

Two excellent quotes from Mike Galsworthy of the Bylines Network:

If you bring a pig into a palace, it doesn’t make the pig a prince… it makes the palace a sty.

It only takes one man to move out - - for the whole country to be able to ‘move on’.
