The implications of this is incredibly worrying.

This was bandied about as a benefit of Brexit, some people even voted on the back of it. Disgusting.

Shinamae Mon 26-Sep-22 14:59:57

I honestly feel I’m living in a parallel universe…?‍♀️??

Zoejory Mon 26-Sep-22 15:00:22

That is truly awful. My word, this government is getting worse 26th each passing day.

I'm sorry that you can't open it, but it's looking like she wants to axe that Kept Animals Bill, according to the article. It was in the manifesto She's also called for a return of fox hunting, I don't know when that was. As you say just what is going on???

Callistemon21 Mon 26-Sep-22 16:39:34

Whatever next?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 26-Sep-22 16:46:36

They are getting rid of all the protections to our natural world.

Conservationists and charities are so very alarmed and we are beginning to see on social media people calling for action and help.

Fleurpepper Mon 26-Sep-22 16:51:09

I just feel sick.

Casdon Mon 26-Sep-22 17:05:52

Meanwhile, in Wales - there is still some hope for the future. I’m sure similar will be reintroduced in England soon.

The fight is only just beginning, but undoubtedly there will be a big fight?

RSPB England ?
@RSPBEngland
It’s been a tough few days. The Government has launched an #AttackOnNature.

But YOU have stood up for wildlife. In your hundreds of thousands. Because YOU care. And you are being heard. Thank you, all of you.

Eloethan Mon 26-Sep-22 18:16:18

She obviously doesn't care about animals. She doesn't seem to care much about people either.

Oldbat1 Mon 26-Sep-22 18:25:05

I am just ashamed of this country. The government have next to no morals. Tories disgust me.

Totally agree. We do as much as possible to support our wildlife and domestic animals.
Like many, I despair on so many fronts.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 26-Sep-22 18:55:14

The Wildlife Trusts

We wanted to say a huge thank you all our supporters and that of fellow environmental charities for speaking up against the recent #AttackOnNature by UK Gov.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 26-Sep-22 19:07:46

The Rivers Trust

We are joining
@RSPBEngland
and other ENGOs in expressing our utter dismay at recent government announcements.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 27-Sep-22 07:07:17

Campaign for National Parks

We are deeply concerned about the future of our Protected Landscapes in England - we need the UK Government to strengthen powers now, not remove or undermine them

Whitewavemark2 Tue 27-Sep-22 07:13:33

Yet more

“River Action is deeply concerned by a series of recent announcements from Government which have serious implications for our rivers.

Environmentalists have warned these represent a 'deregulatory free-for-all' and a 'full-on attack on the laws that protect nature'..

Sounds like many Australian attitudes towards animals. If it moves, shoot it, in other words. Deer hunting, duck shooting, brumby shooting, kangaroo culling all condoned. Makes me sick to the stomach. As for foxes and rabbits - well they just poison them so they die a slow death. Live exports permitted of course.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 27-Sep-22 08:55:56

At least they still have a habitat to survive in.

That is what this lot are intent on destroying.

Does anyone have any idea WHY do this?

Is there any information out there that explains this retrograde step?

What does the gov. gain and why do it now?

boheminan Tue 27-Sep-22 12:35:01

Kwartang is intent on selling whole areas of the U.K. for the Freeport’s and charter cities, who will then be free from all environmental restrictions and much else.

They will “own” huge areas. Take for example Plymouth. There is a map which shows the area proposed for a charter city. Not only does it include Plymouth and surrounding areas but a large amount of Dartmoor. Why? Planning law will also be removed. And I’m unclear how the individual will be affected, but I am clear what will happen to our precious countryside.
