Despite being PM for a few weeks she is proposing awards for the good work her supporters did

Awards for doing more harm in a few short weeks than most do in many months, she obviously still does not accept what she & her supporters did was not in the countries best interest.

The whole honours system is a farce already but allowing Joghnson and Truss to promote their cronies to the House of Lords is just outrageous.

timetogo2016 Sat 25-Mar-23 10:33:18

Still not in the real world then.

Get real Truss

I didn’t think she had any supporters!

Whitewavemark2 Sat 25-Mar-23 15:04:57

Oh she has supporters alright from the very right wing of the party who believe in a very small state with minimum taxes.

They are a faction in the Tory party that had their 1 minute in the sun and totally blew it as we all learnt to the country’s detriment.

They still exist though and given the first opportunity will come back with a vengeance.

Casdon Sat 25-Mar-23 15:29:30

I don’t think there are enough of them though Whitewavemark, they make a lot of noise but that’s about it at the moment. I just hope some of them have sufficiently outed themselves not to be re-elected.

The woman has no shame! Disgraceful.

MaizieD Sat 25-Mar-23 17:11:41

The names she has put forward for peerages are key members of the Tufton St. crew who applauded her budget. The one that crashed the economy...

For those hoping that Sunak won't approve her list, I suspect that Sunak is probably quite in agreement with their economic thinking; small state and tax cuts for the wealthy, he's just more careful as to how to implement it.

Here is the Byline Times in 2022 explaining Tufton Street:

No Shame, just shocking.

It should be stopped.

But will Sunak have the nerve to stand up to the far right?

I’m not a fan of his, but in fairness he has so far. That’s why they didn’t want him I would imagine. This will be a good test to see how strong his bottle is.

Grantanow Sun 26-Mar-23 11:37:22

Sunak should stop this. Truss did enormous damage and there is no justification for her arrogant behaviour.

M0nica Sun 26-Mar-23 12:36:48

What supporters? I didn't know she had any.

Can anyone explain how LT became a libertarian and believer in the extreme right ideals as promulgated by the ERG for example?

Her father is an academic and her mother was a nurse and a teacher. Both were left leaning and LT was a Lib Dem whilst at Oxford.

What makes someone change their opinions so drastically?

varian Sun 26-Mar-23 13:47:54

Perhaps her move to the LibDems was teenage rebellion against her left wing parents, but the move from there to the Conservatives may have been prompted byTim Farron who was speaking to a group of LibDem students and jokingly remarked that "this would be a good time to be a Tory candidate" because of the poor quality of candidates they had.

I think she probably has no political principles at all, but is just ruthlessly ambitious and interested in self promotion. Apparently, after her disastrous performance in No 10, she tells her friends "well at least I've been PM". In other words she had no real interest in what she could do for the country, only what she could do for herself, just like Johnson.

If you really want to know who and what is behind Tufton Street and its cabals - and the extent of their influence, I recommend reading Democracy for sale: Dark Money and Dirty Politics by Peter Geoghegan.

It has completely changed my attitude - and underminded by belief in anything coming from the Conservative party.
