You will see links to her other appearances - she thinks women are jealous of her success, when they probably just don't like her!

I have no idea who this woman is, what she does or why she is, apparently, "successful", let alone why she was invited to give her views about children's names on some television programme. She's certainly narrow minded and a snob. I also hate that expression "play date" so I was bound to dislike her.

I bet the other parents at the school gate avoid her like the plague. I must say I feel sorry for her child(ren). How would they ever overcome having a mother like that.

I don't watch The Apprentice as I can't stand Alan Sugar, but I gather she was a contestant and is now some sort of businesswoman. I think the programme was This Morning, on ITV. The presenters faces say it all.

Good grief!

What an odious woman indeed.

What a dreadful woman - the thing that amused me was how she stated that she hated geographical names and then denied that India (her daughter's name) was geographical!!

I think Katie Hopkins has carved herself a useful niche on daytime TV. She's prepared to come along ( or 'rock up' as she once called it) and play devil's advocate for arguments about class, which always have a lucrative phone-in from irate viewers. She/they must be laughing all the way to the bank! grin

Bags Fri 05-Jul-13 07:42:10

I turned her off before I got that far! What a twerp.

Bags Fri 05-Jul-13 07:43:46

Before I got to India.

If she's taking the piss (she should be!) she's a bloody good actor.

I remember her from the Apprentice. She was a loud mouthed antediluvian airhead then, so nothing's changed.

But what a sad comment in our society that she is so often in radio/TV and does so well out of it

Bags Fri 05-Jul-13 08:12:20

The saving grace is that you can spot (well, hear) people like that a mile off, so they're easy to avoid. There's nothing like such loud snobbery for showing one's own inferiority. What on earth is she afraid of?

marigold1 Fri 05-Jul-13 08:13:59

I agree vegasmags,.

She's becoming one of those characters we love to hate, like John McCrirrick. There must be a policy about bringing on 'Rent-a-Gob' types to bump up the ratings and revenue, because they certainly create lots of discussion and publicity.

By now I think everyone knows that The Apprentice is very staged and a bit of a joke. Whilst I'm sure the contestants are primed to come out with some of the bilge that they utter, I do think there are those who take part simply to use it as a staging post to raise their profile in the hope of getting some sort job in the media. Katie Hopkins views are extreme and contentious and she does like to pontificate in a lofty manner to anyone who doesn't meet her exacting standards. I have also heard her claim that she finds looking after her children a tedious chore that gets in the way of her being a successful business woman, hence she employs people to do that menial task. I wish someone would ask her why she bothered having three children, which I thinks is quite a lot for someone who clearly thinks motherhood is beneath them.

Greatnan Fri 05-Jul-13 08:26:42

Just like Samantha Brick, Sally Bercow and Nadine Dorries. Not to mention Anne Widdecombe, who sold her dignity for a mess of potage!

j08 Fri 05-Jul-13 09:03:12

grin

I think she was quite brave, and, to a certain extent, I can see where she's coming from!

Would never really judge a kid by his/her name though.

j08 Fri 05-Jul-13 09:07:27

this is interesting grin

j08 Fri 05-Jul-13 09:08:01

Mind you, children choose their own friends. And there's sod-all you can do about it. grin

I see my niece-in-law is on that list (Charlene - spawn of the devil), as is her delightful toddler daughter, Poppy. An accomplished artist, musician and midwife, with a good degree, whose parents just happened to like her name.

MiceElf Fri 05-Jul-13 10:01:36

I always thought Poppy was posh.

MiceElf Fri 05-Jul-13 10:03:00

It's one of my favourite flowers too. Along with Lily, Rose and Iris.

annodomini Fri 05-Jul-13 10:07:23

When my DS1 started school, there were, I think, five Jasons in his class. There was a TV show five years previosly featuring a character so named. I didn't have a TV at the time my son was born. grin

Ella46 Fri 05-Jul-13 10:23:55

Ironically, 'Poppy' is the name of one of this 'odious woman's' children.
She obviously hadn't read this old article grin
