It appears that the next set of excavations may well be in Reading. It is believed that Henry 1 (known as Beauclerc because he could read and write and studied Latin and the liberal arts ) is buried under what is the now disused Reading Gaol (of Oscar Wilde fame ) He was almost certainly buried in Reading Abbey and the prison area was part of the Abbey Quarter in his time.
