What one piece of advice would you give your younger self? I think I'd have to say to stop worrying about my size and to embrace my youthful body - it's definitely not what it once was!

No experience - good or bad - is ever wasted

Live for the moment, don't put things off until later. It may be too late to fulfill your dreams.

Don’t ignore ones own hopes & expectations in order to appease others.

What age would you define as 'younger self'?

Don’t take up fly fishing - you’ll never have any money!

Dont defer to men.

NanKate Thu 22-Mar-18 14:05:12

Don’t try and keep pleasing others, make up your own mind.

Oldwoman70 Thu 22-Mar-18 14:10:18

It's not the end of the world if you tell people you can't or don't want to do what they want. I spent a lot of my life being a "people pleaser". I still am to a certain extent but have now learned to say no when I want to.

M0nica Thu 22-Mar-18 15:05:46

I would never give myself advice, because, contrarian that I am, I would promptly ignore it and do the opposite and, generally, I have done best in life when I have ignored advice.

Move far far away from everyone and everything you now know

KatyK Thu 22-Mar-18 18:55:37

Be brave - don't let your upbringing make you so fearful.

Listen to that 'inner voice' and take heed, don't push it aside. That would have saved me an awful lot of trouble!

Never rely on a man to use contraception.....

sarahellenwhitney Fri 23-Mar-18 10:28:35

Stand up to my domineering mother .
Looking back makes me realise what a wimp I was.

marionk Fri 23-Mar-18 10:30:28

I too would tell myself to be brave, stand up to my mother and believe in myself despite her.

raggyanna Fri 23-Mar-18 10:40:27

Of course I regret odd things but as someone has already said all experiences have something to teach us. I married at 19, lived in Western Canada for several years, had 3 lovely children, my husband died suddenly at 50. Had a few years trying different things I had wanted to do....children all grown up and left home....met a wonderful woman who changed my life, we have been together for 20 years. We are very lucky, my children and grandchildren love her very much. So I think it is better to travel with an open mind, sad and happy times are enriching and make us who we are!
