Hello all,

As the title says, reallly.

Starting to think she calls the shots hmm and Harry goes along with it.

merlotgran Sat 06-Jul-19 18:17:43

I think it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.

paddyann Sat 06-Jul-19 18:25:41

lots of marriages where the wife "calls the shots " nothing wrong with it if its what both want.In this case they are taking taxpayers money so must be seen to be amenable to the public that support them .They dont appear to be able to do that.I couldn't care less I'd like to see the whole huddle of parasites gone for good .

BlueBelle Sat 06-Jul-19 18:33:58

Oh leave her alone Harry’s no wimp he hated all the intrusion his mum had so probably is very protective of their own privacy
Let them get on with their own life without sightseers

Anniebach Sat 06-Jul-19 18:36:49

Then they should move out of their house, drop their titles and all the privileges.

Either in or out .

BlueBelle Sat 06-Jul-19 18:41:38

Why ? they all live off the lcountry What do half of them do fir the land does Andrew and Fergi and their girls earn their keep? Why s it different for Meghan and Harry

BlueBelle Sat 06-Jul-19 18:42:12

I didn’t think the baby had been given a title

dragonfly46 Sat 06-Jul-19 18:46:36

Apparently the low key christening was Harry's wish not hers.

eazybee Sat 06-Jul-19 18:47:55

Sorry, but I think she is unfitted for her role.
I thought her maternity leave would give her time for reflection, but the rift with the Cambridges, the silly business over the place of birth, the secrecy of the christening and godparents, plus the huge expense on a totally unnecessary change of residence, have demeaned her, and him.
At least, hopefully, now she won't be clutching her stomach all the time.

Lessismore Sat 06-Jul-19 18:49:50

it is all a bit weird really?
Catherine, I'm sure has her down time, family life, but steps up as and when needed.

Lessismore Sat 06-Jul-19 18:50:24

PS. the baby shower was totally sickening.

phoenix Sat 06-Jul-19 19:06:25

Hmm, difficult isn't it? But reading the post by eazybee has got me thinking.

Being part of "The Firm" (as I believe is the way that the Royal Family refer to it) isn't at all the same as being an actor in a successful tv series.

Lessismore agree with both of your posts.

kittylester Sat 06-Jul-19 19:56:53

I agree with lessismore too.

I just keep thinking the situation has echoes of the Duke of Windsor.

Megan obviously doesnt get it.

I think that her father in law should have a chat about how things should be.

Gonegirl Sat 06-Jul-19 20:08:32

I think it's more to do with Harry than Meghan, because of what happened with his mother. I think Meghan is probably very sweet and will fill the role perfectly well when she returns to royal duties.

Ginny42 Sat 06-Jul-19 20:19:59

I want to know why their maternity was graced with the term, 'maternity leave'! Leave from what? Try telling that to the pregnant mum working in a factory or standing all day serving customers in a store.

They are making it perfectly plain that they want to be part-time royals. She is a mature woman who has been married previously and is no wilting violet, so I don't think it's a case of one making all the decisions. I'm glad they seem to be so together as a couple, but now they should step down, give up their privileges and enjoy their private life. Oh and pay back the money for the refurb.

Anniebach Sat 06-Jul-19 20:23:25

but he is doing the same with the press as did his mother , the media coverage over the birth , same with the Baptism , he is playing a stupid game .

Anniebach Sat 06-Jul-19 20:27:10

The maternity leave meant no official engagements, with the exception of Trouping of The Colours, carriage ride down the Mall and a place on the balcony .

Framilode Sat 06-Jul-19 20:49:55

I have no objection to the taxpayer funding the re-fit of their cottage within reason, however, I think a £5000 copper bath paid for by us (directly or indirectly) is a step too far.

They all have as much privacy as they desire. We only tend to see photos of them on official engagements. The rest of the time they have their privacy.

There has always been a sort of unofficial pact that in return for deference, wealth and privilege they share some important moments with the people. All this stuff about keeping this and that private just alienates people.

aggie Sat 06-Jul-19 20:54:16

Why announce the Christening , then say you aren't going to see any of it ! They could have gone ahead and not said anything . That is how you get privacy

Whitewavemark2 Sat 06-Jul-19 20:56:57

Doesn’t alienate me. I couldn’t care less. We have a monarchy, which is apparently our choice so we take the rough with the smooth. All a bit boring tbh. Given their upbringing it is no surprise that they seem a bit at odds with the world and each other.

I’m a republican, but love looking at the clothes?

lemongrove Sat 06-Jul-19 22:48:44

Good post Framilode I agree.

crystaltipps Sun 07-Jul-19 04:52:21

Expect all the bitching about their relationship, her “unsuitability”, plus the experiences with the press and Diana mean they want to protect their child from intrusion as much as possible. The godparents didn’t want their names released so they respected that. Paying for them to be figureheads doesn’t mean we have to know every detail of their lives. They’ve issued some photos. What else do you need fgs?

BlueBelle Sun 07-Jul-19 05:38:02

Totally agree crystaltipps Some of the public will constantly find a stick to beat her with just like they did Camilla for years She’s not a royal, she’s not ‘one of us’ so everything she says and does will never be right, she ll never be allowed to fit in.
I hope they have a happy family life and stay well out of the publics’ vitriolic glare

Anniebach Sun 07-Jul-19 08:35:15

She has the title HRH, this means she is a ‘royal’.

William and Kate have the balance right, they and their children are not hounded by the press or the public. They share with the public some information because they know
this is how it works. A two way relationship, they have privileges and in return they treat the public with respect.

Juliet27 Sun 07-Jul-19 08:41:27

Good points Annie.
