I haven't seen it yet. I saw it was on, but was doing other things, but I might watch it on catch-up. Thanks for the recommendation .

Dh watched it and said it was excellent.

It's a little hard to watch as a mother of sons though. I saw it in the theatres when it came out.

I’m finding I tend to avoid war films the older I get. I saw it was on but really thought it would be upsetting so gave it a miss.

Somehow we couldn’t bring ourselves to watch it yesterday.
Not feeling emotionally up to seeing the horrors of war ...

DH and I went to see this at the cinema when it first came out. The cinematography is amazing and probably better appreciated on the big screen. We both enjoyed it

We saw it in the cinema and I was frankly underwhelmed. An uncle of mine was evacuated from Dunkirk while wounded, so I did have that at the forefront of my mind, too.

For me the Dunkirk scenes in Atonement were considerably more affecting/moving, though they were a relatively small part of it.
For war films of that era I personally rate Darkest Hour among the best. The portrayal of Churchill was outstanding and thoroughly deserving of the Oscar.

I watched it as, to my eternal regret, I never found out the story of my Dad's rescue from the beaches of Dunkirk. He would never discuss the war. He was one if Monty's Desert Rats and at one time was missing presumed killed. If 'real time' film is shown of soldiers disembarking, I still look to see if I can recognise him!

We saw it when it came out. We thought it was great.

A great film as was War horse.

An excellent film.
