Knicker gussets. Am I malformed?

I reckon knickers must be designed by men. The gusset is always too far back, not under my ‘front bottom’ where it surely should be. Is it just me?

MissAdventure Mon 12-Aug-19 17:26:36

grin
Its often not big enough for me.
Maybe I just have a large er, thingy!

ninathenana Mon 12-Aug-19 17:29:09

I agree, some are so narrow even on Bridget Jones'

It's hard to buy decent knickers today if you're old school in the underwear department. I agree with you about the gussets. My grandson, helping me bring clothes in from the washing line, was fascinated at the shape and size of my knickers, presumably in contrast to my DD's underwear that appear to be the size of a postage stamp. He calls mine granny's fatty knickers.

Asda's £4.50 packs of 5 are fine for me. I throw a pack in the trolley each time I go for my shopping. Can't have too many.

Funny word---gusset, isn't it ? It makes me smile

I try occasionally to have a change from my M&S midi knickers. Never works, the gussets are too small and never stay in the right place. I know exactly how you feel
Blubellgran I would like some knickers that are pretty and comfortable but a vain hope.

I like hi legs and never had a gusset problem perhaps my gusset is just perfect ???

My knicker drawer consists of various sizes due to my ever expanding girth - I put the older smaller ones on under my pj's and often find the gusset (horrid word shock ) is too narrow now. The larger sizes fit just fine - I've not noticed the length changing though although I guess if the material is stretched too much I might just have to wear them back to front grin

I have always wondered why the gusset in any kind of ladies' underwear is so far back and why the front of santitary towels wasn't thicker than the back.

I have always thought the designers had to be unmarried men, otherwise they would have known how unsuitable the things were, but these days there must be women designing both clothes and STs.

I suppose these things must vary from person to person, now I come to think of it.

Blimey, I go shopping at least once a week - I'd have 130 pairs after 6 months grin

Bathsheba Sun 18-Aug-19 12:08:11

Or are they such poor quality that they only last 2 or 3 weeks?

shysal Sun 18-Aug-19 12:55:17

I always buy my M&S no VPL full briefs a couple of sizes bigger than my real size, which helps with the width, but you are right, the gusset begins too far back. This doesn't bother me because I always wear a long plus pantie liner well in front of the seam. blush.
The days of choosing underwear for prettiness rather than comfort are long gone.

Sloggies!

I used to buy my knickers singly; plain cotton ones. Then a $2 shop opened and I saw pairs with pretty flowers also cotton mix. And they have lasted far, far longer than those I paid through the ..er...gusset for.

Unfortunately, the inconsistency of stock has meant that recently when I went to replace a pair or two, they only had nylon ones. :-(

I bought just one pair and they are so long in the body I could easily wear the waist band under my arms and still have all my bits covered.

LOVE 'granny's fatty knickers.'

Just as an aside. I haven't seen it here but so many people seem to refer to 'front bottoms' as the vagina. Shows a shocking lack of knowledge about the female body.
You would not, unless you are a gynecologist see a vagina.

The 'lady bit' referred to is mons pubis or just 'mons'.

RosieLeah Mon 19-Aug-19 06:57:38

I know that women vary a lot in that department, so it isn't a case of 'one size fits all'. I suppose you have to try different brands until you find the ones that are right for you. I seem to be very wide down there as most gussets are too narrow.

SirChenjin Mon 19-Aug-19 08:12:32

Your moms pubis is the bit at the front where the pubic hair grow - no idea why you’d need a gusset for that confused The bit that does is called the vulva - but we all know what is meant by lady bits/front bottom/downstairs area/whatever I’m sure.

I agree - the gusset is never in the right place. M and S midis are the only ones that cover my backside and stay in place, but I have noticed they have cut back on the material so I’ve had to go up a size - v annoying. I know this because I have compared their measurements to an old pair of midis I had and they are smaller shockangry

SirChenjin Mon 19-Aug-19 08:13:03

Mons

Auntieflo Mon 19-Aug-19 08:37:40

I liked 'moms'!

Granny23 Mon 19-Aug-19 08:47:44

I have just realised that sir is actually a Dame grin

SirChenjin Mon 19-Aug-19 09:05:45

grin

Or am I...??

SirChenjin Mon 19-Aug-19 09:07:15

Yes I am!! It’s a play on ‘search engine’ (or searching gin as someone suggested and which I actually prefer grin)

Give Sloggis a try. Supposed to be the most comfortable knickers in the world.

shysal Mon 19-Aug-19 09:48:23

Sloggis are too tight around the leg for me, as I have sturdy thighs!

Sparklefizz Mon 19-Aug-19 10:57:43

Sloggis are great .... the best! They even do "double gussets". grin
