Another grumble....

What are they meant to mean? I assume litchelly is literally but haven't a clue about redified!

My grumble in this cold weather is hearing 'slippy' all the time instead of slippery.

Haven't got a clue, but, could it mean that you have 'made yourself ready??'

Redefined with the n omitted, accidentally or otherwise?

My late DM used to be furious about "slippy', shysal, and also "wrap up warm' instead of 'warmly', and she passed them both on to me. It's a bad time of year for both, unfortunately.

In context it seems to mean rectified!

On the local FB selling page recently someone was advertising their hand made "reefs" (wreaths) I wanted to correct him but didn't.
Someone did though as it was edited later that day

I've seen Chester draws advertised too Gypsy. I think sometimes it's pesky predictive text but yes it sets my teeth on edge.

'were' and 'did' seem to have disappeared on FB too, replaced with 'was' and 'done'

I spoke with a young person recently about exams and when I said about English Language they said they didn't do grammar in English Language but poetry etc. At my school that was English Literature. It could also explain a lot!

From someone who works in a primary school I saw. 'Are Sam' instead of 'our'. Argh. The funniest I thought was 'good will jester'

One of the posts from someone on my FB page stated that it was "wrapped up like a trustup turkey"

I once worked with a girl who's adored boyfriend was up there on a 'pedder stool'

I was surprised when I read a letter complaining about some black bits found in a tin of peaches. The writer said that she had rinsed the peaches to remove the black bits and the peaches were then consummated !

Hate the the phrase ‘so fun’ , seems to be in use a lot in the States........

The one that annoys me is"do you ship this couple". Seems to mean they make a nice couple.

I cringe when listening to these so called educated persons and have visions of my cane wielding English teacher walking amongst the class ready to pounce on the unfortunate who as she informed us had most certainly been born illiterate.
Doubt that 21C she would have got away with that comment.

I too had a cane wielding English teacher - who like yours would most certainly "pounce" . . . . I LOVED her . . . she looked and dressed like Dolly Parton . . . . she certainly encouraged my sesquipedalian tendencies . . . . I can't get to grips with many of the FB "shorts" though. . . .
