Stripy or stripey anyone ?

I would spell it with the ‘e’.

The other version reads as ‘strippy’ to me.

I would use stripey but I’ve seen stripy written so I guess take your pick and use whichever you want.

I have always written stripey both of socks and cats.

I suspect stripy is American usage, but don't know for sure.

I notice people pronouncing "awry" as "a -wry".

I was taught and the dictionary agrees that it is "awe-ry"

I don't understand that. Why would you pronounce it 'awe-ry'? The word is nothing to do with awe, as in wonder. It comes from the word 'wry' which means crooked or skewed. It should be pronounced a-wry.

Stripey was the zebra who lived on Timothy's shelf along with
Woeful the monkey, Getup the giraffe, Gumpa the bear and Little Mut.

To make an adjective from words ending in e just drop the e and add the y.
Icy, Spicy, Nosy, Stripy. .....simply!

..."simply" is an adverb.

My Shorter Oxford Dictionary gives a-wry (and compares it with aright, as in did I hear you aright?) and stripy.
