I have been to see a red cocker spaniel who is being rehomed called Norman, he is gorgeous but needs more attention than his old owners could give him. I have to take the GC to see him tonight. I am so excited!!!

Any dog called Norman is a must-have smile

Norman is a fine name for a dog! I can imagine you calling him when you're out for a walk with him....grin He'll be a lucky boy if he gets to live with you, glass.

Ana Thu 09-May-13 13:43:34

He sounds very noble! I'm sure you'll fall in love with each other, glass smile

"Nor-man, oo-oh, oo-ooh, oo -ooh, oo-ooh, oooh Nor-man, Nor-man my lo-ove"
Does anybody else remember a song that went like that?grin

glassortwo Thu 09-May-13 13:46:16

I have already fallen ana, it all hangs on how Norman and the GC get on this afternonn as its a no go if there is any friction as we all live together, fingers crossed. smile

Oh, lovely, glass! We've had a couple of cockers, including a golden/red one called Sweep. A law unto herself - such characters smile

Ana Thu 09-May-13 13:47:47

Oh yes, I see, glass - fingers crossed!

gracesmum I remember that song - think it was Susan Maugham's follow-up to 'I want to be Bobby's Girl'...

Oh how exciting! I had a lovely blue roan cocker called Hugo - I do hope it all works out. [baited breath emoticon}

moomin Thu 09-May-13 14:21:21

Ooh glass I'm envy I had a blue roan cocker when I was young, he was called Toby and a complete character and my best friend!

I think I've finally convinced the OH to let me have a retired greyhound (have already spotted one I like wink ) but will have to wait until we get back from our holidays in June.

Hope it goes well with the GC and if it does, please post a photo!!!

moomin Thu 09-May-13 14:21:39

Snap vegas!

Good luck with Norman!I'm sure he's very lucky to have a new loving home. We also aquired a new dog last Friday!! She's a 5 week old Maremma and we've called her Maggie May!! She's hard work at the moment because she was too young to be taken from her mum but the man we got her from just wanted rid of the pups quickly so the mum could go back to work guarding his sheep. She needs constant attention. It's worse than having a baby to care for!!

shysal Thu 09-May-13 15:46:47

I do hope you are all compatible. Cockers generally have a lovely nature. I grew up with a blue roan called Sweet Sylvie of Chinnor. She had a litter puppies which were adorable!

All the best with your dog Glass, he sounds lovely, and what a dignified name!
May I beg to differ with you Ana, Norman was a big hit in 1961 for Sue Thompson. We were always singing it at work, in the Rochdale Telephone Exchange, cos one of the girls was engaged to a lad called Norman!

Ana Thu 09-May-13 16:37:29

You're right, number - I googled it and it was Sue Thompson who had the hit with 'Norman'. It was also on Susan Maughan's first LP and I probably heard it on the radio and thought it was a single!

Cocker spaniels always remind me of the Secret Seven books.

Hope your GCs get on with Norman, glass. Paul O'Grady's doggie programme is back on telly tonight. smile

Ariadne Thu 09-May-13 18:36:15

Let us know how it went, glass! Do hope it was love at first sight.

glassortwo Thu 09-May-13 21:34:16

All went well, phewwwww smile
I have to let the rescue people know in the morning if we want him, could have told them there and then but they wanted us to go home and talk it over......
Well if he isnt coming we now have new food and water bowls, a seat belt for him for the car, new ball and stick, new lead etc etc..... the kids had a spending spree in Pets at home grin so hopefully we will bring him home tomorrow. smile

whenim64 Thu 09-May-13 21:40:53

Oh, that's so exciting, glass! Tomorrow's going to be smashing for you all.

Ana Thu 09-May-13 21:42:17

I'm so glad, glass! smile
