Are you a cat or dog person?

Or maybe both?

Most people I've met are one or the other, even if they love all animals.

Do you think it ties in with being an extrovert/ introvert?

I love both. I haven’t owned a dog during my adult life but had a cat for 12 years. I walk my daughter’s dog 2 days a week and really enjoy it. I’ve never been on a dog walk without total strangers stopping for a chat.

Last week I stayed at my son’s house while they had a few days away and their 12 week old puppy was too young to go with them. I fell in love with her although it was a full time job keeping her safe and out of trouble.

I like the idea of having a dog but know that I couldn't cope with one. Whereas cats look after themselves. And they are so elegant. I think therefore that I am a cat person.

Love dogs, like cats but dogs are like children - they need you! Not all homes that have dogs smell.

Definitely a doggy person

Cats but I like most dogs, too. Except bulldogs and bull terriers.
We have a new cat who is really difficult and very aggressive but we are working at it. He came from the blue cross as a stray and is very pretty to look at but likes to bite and scratch and wags his tail constantly. We love him just the same and hope he will improve with time.

Cats all day long.

Cats have staff, dogs owners. Have had a dog when I was young loved her to bits. Cats just have the edge. They don’t make a lot of noise barking which is most annoying. Letting a dog off the lead in the countryside is also annoying especially around sheep and cattle. So many who have acquired dogs recently don’t seem to understand the problems this causes. Can see a lot of dogs being given over to RSPCA and charities in general in the next couple ,e of years when they are not so cuts and when the pandemic is over In general.

I actually like bit but what I don’t like is bad owners. My friend has a dog that constantly jumps up in me whether I’m sitting or standing, whether his paws are dirty or not. She sees him as her baby and won’t reprimand him for anything.

I thought I was a cat person for many years. Then I got a dog. Firmly a dog person now.

I'm a cat person. And introvert. I think it's connected in some way, because I love being at home so much. And with a dog you need to go out for walks as much as possible.

I would love a dog but I’m realistic enough to know I couldn’t provide the necessary care. I can look after cats ?

As I've worked in Criminal Justice for many years I do tend to prefer animals to people generally!
As Orwell put it"Four legs good, two legs bad" tends to be my general rule of thumb grin.

I have both cat's and dog's (2 cats and 3 dogs currently) and adore them all and I'm VERY introverted.

I like both but whereas I like all cats there are some dogs that I don’t like and wouldn’t have.

Just realised this is an old thread!

We don't have either but I prefer cats. I'd say I don't like dogs but I haven't got my tin hat handy.

I take an inhaler for shortness of breath, which developed many years ago having suffered pneumonia on two occasions. I found when visiting friends who had two cats this also affected my breathing .So as much as I would like a cat it is dogs only which do not affect my on going health issue.

Definitely dogs, was born into a doggy household and have never found a reason to change, I remember each one with great affection.

Both, but then myself and DH absolutely adore ours, love animals much more than people, we’ve never ever been without pets, nor would we want to be ,

Cats ... cats .... cats..... all the way! I think they are wonderful animals. I've had cats all my life and they have all been loving and affectionate.

Sooze83 Sat 09-Jan-21 13:10:47

I'm a dog person, but my husband wanted a cat.

Now I don't think I could live without her as she's darling, and love to watch her antics as we play with her.

Dogs for me. Cats are cute, particularly appealing when they're young, but I just cannot come to terms with their need to capture, torment or even kill tiny furry and feathered creatures. It really upsets me. (I also cannot abide the way they use other people's gardens for toileting purposes, grrrr)

I love both, since getting married we had 3 dogs and 7 cats over 53 (now 57) years. One dog lived to be 15 then sadly had to be put to sleep, and one cat lived to be 16. I currently have a cat, have been unable to have a dog for several years now, as I am unable to do the walking anymore.
