Doggy lovers in Aberdeen

Hello,

I live in Aberdeen and I am not a Gran, but I need a gran’s help! My little doggy is going to need some daycare when I go back to work and instead of a dog walker I would love to find someone who might want to look after my dog some days and I could provide a service in return? What I was thinking was that I could help with gardening (I love this and grow my own veg) or cooking or cleaning or even taking someone to the shops at the weekend? If my services would not be helpful, I’d also consider giving someone some payment to look after her or could do a suitable mix of both. I know I can get a dog walker but I would much prefer little Nellie to go to get some company all day. She’s a lovely little rescue who is a Jack Russell size and would happily go walks but equally she wouldn’t need walked as I could do this before and after I picked her up. She would need care between 8 - 4 as I am a teacher. I would like to think I could provide some useful service in return and it would be really nice to expand my social circle too as I am not from Aberdeen and have no family here smile

Sadly not in Aberdeen but I wish you every success in what sounds like a brilliant idea.
Hope little Nellie finds her day care!

I second that as a brilliant idea. It's an economy based not on money but on exchange of goods or services.

Are you on Facebook? There are several community groups in Aberdeen, and you could ask there if anyone is interested. Try FUBAR, they’re a big group. Good luck!

I hope you find a carer who loves Nellie as much as you do, It sounds like a great arrangement.
I think there must be many people who would love a part time dog
Please come back to tell us how it works out

That does sound like a great idea DogloverAberdeen, it could benefit people and dogs in so many ways. Be interesting to know how it pans out for you.

I'm down south and would love to have a p/t time dog for company with none of the financial commitments. I'm sure there will be pensioners in Aberdeen keen to have company during the day. Either facebook (facebay) or a postcard advert in the local Post Office is the way to go, I think.

Unfortunately I’m in Inverness, so a bit too far, but that’s exactly the sort of thing I’d be happy to do in exchange for a few home grown veggies. There must be other retired people who would love to do this.
