This is Speckled Jim, an exceptionally well-nourished baby herring gull who visits our garden every day to squeak piteously until food is put on the bird table. His parents, Gulliver and Gullible, sometimes get there first, which is probably just as well, as he will soon be too fat to fly! (Perhaps I should change MY name to 'Gullible.')

I'd love to see some of your garden birds and animals.

This colourful chap dropped in to our DDs garden days last year. He stayed a few days and then left without any thanks for the hospitality shown.

Dragonella Fri 19-Feb-21 21:42:48

He seems pheasant enough ginny

These are the four male peacocks that live wild in our garden and nearby. They are just coming into the breeding seasons so will be getting a bit noisy.

Dragonella Fri 19-Feb-21 21:48:59

Wow seacliff do you live in a manor house?

seacliff Fri 19-Feb-21 22:01:42

Ha ha No Dragonella. Just a small cottage in the sticks, was an very dilapidated old pig farm. A peacock just walked up the drive about 12 years ago, we fed him, he stayed.

This exotic creature is desperate to be allowed in!

Dragonella Sat 20-Feb-21 21:47:04

that's a very guilty expression Aveline

This hen pheasant comes every day. She sometimes brings her girlfriend with her too.

Lovely king parrot looking splendid in the back garden

Aldom Sun 21-Feb-21 08:40:09

Several blackbirds visit my garden, but this one is always waiting first thing in the morning.

Dragonella Thu 25-Feb-21 10:01:54

Beautiful Christmassy picture, Aldom

nanna8 I take it you don't live in the UK?

ninathenana Thu 25-Feb-21 11:36:59

A fox and her cubs have been visiting our garden for about 3 years now. Last years litter was 5 cubs.
We don't feed or encourage them, they just seem to like our garden.

The deer are not daily visitors but seeing a lot at the moment. They love to nibble new growth. Lost all my runner beans one year.

Hear the owls a lot but managed to zoom in on this one from the kitchen window. After a long wait it decided to turn around.

Aveline Thu 25-Feb-21 12:41:23

Oh wow. I love owls. What long legs they have

Dragonella Sat 27-Feb-21 00:47:11

Beautiful fox, ninathenanna - I would love 5 cute fox cubs in our garden, but I only see them when they are older, and sparring and yarring in the road outside.

Very impressive photos, muse was that owl a daytime visitor? And as for the deer - amazing!

nanna8 Sat 27-Feb-21 06:05:56

They’re back again ! Noisy sulphur crested cockys

nanna8 Sat 27-Feb-21 06:07:36

I’d love to see an owl, haven’t seen one for years though sometimes hear them in the night.

Norfolknanna Sat 27-Feb-21 06:53:09

One of several regular visitors, big ones, little ones and one really big boy like a rugby ball with legs! Excellent pest control in the garden, no slug damage on my hostas.

Nanna my daughter sent me a clip of a lyrebird in the bush at the end of her garden. He couldn’t be seen clearly apart from his feathers as he raised them but she said every noise, apart from the thunder, was made by him, even the kookaburra sound. Such amazing mimics.

Juliet27 Sat 27-Feb-21 07:14:56

This fox used to visit our garden

nanna8 Sat 27-Feb-21 07:37:40

They are incredible, lyrebirds. Does she live up in the Dandenongs?

Juliet27 Sat 27-Feb-21 07:58:26

She’s just moved to the Blue Mountains. Where she lived before she used to see a Powerful Owl. They look huge.

NanaandGrampy Sat 27-Feb-21 08:35:48

This is Norbert. He visits every day - I think we're his equivalent of McDonalds !!

Sometimes he brings his lady friend Gertie. She's much more difficult to photograph.

This is Dylan, our Spanish rescue! ♥️
