Thanks for the reminder. I realise I have posted twice on this long-lived thread. I might venture into Manchester to pick up some of their shampoos for my holiday.

And the paper they're wrapped in makes my knicker drawer smell good too - the perfume lingers for ages.

Oh, I love Lush, and loved Cosmetics to Go before them! I can often be found standing in a trance outside their shops just taking on that wonderful smell. I particularly like their soaps - Zen is just glorious - and one or other of the kids always gets me a selection of them at Christmas (they know how to keep me sweet!). They aren't cheap, but they last well, and scent the bathroom as well as looking good.

I also love the idea of Lush but it's so expensive, and for what? The smell goes out into the street for yards and the shop is really overpowering I usually sit on a nearby seat whilst the grandkids forage around inside they love it ( the girls that is) They must make a bomb out of young teens the shop is always full of them ?

I used to love Lush when it was a mail order company called 'Cosmetics to Go' (I think). I like their shops and their ethos. When I'd just landed in San Francisco and dropped off my baggage in my hotel, I strolled down the street and smelt a familiar aroma - across the street there it was - Lush, same as ever and I felt quite at home!

DH went into Lush at Christmas to get me some Happy Hippy (for me they ought to have one called Ageing Hippy) shower gel, which I like. The pretty female assistant persuaded him to buy something called Ro's Argan Body Conditioner. You put it onto wet skin and then rinse it off and pat yourself dry. It does leave skin feeling nice and soft and with a lovely lingering scent, but it leaves the shower floor like a skating rink so you really have to scrub it afterwards.

I used to love Lush bath bombs. Still do actually.
Did I tell you about the time we were treating ourselves to a weekend in that lovely old pub/hotel in the centre of Masham? Booked their most luxurious room plus en suite with jacuzzi bath.
Do NOT EVER put a bath bomb with glitter not even red, silver and blue patriotic glitter. ?? (Olympics?) in a jacuzzi bath.
1) it clogs up the jets and leaves an embarrassing tidemark that you have to apologise at Reception about
2) you get glitter in places glitter should not go.
End of.

My 2 granddaughters love Lush. Especially the bath bombs. It's not cheap mind you is it? But the girls simply can't resist and as others have said they can follow their nose for what seems like miles and find a Lush shop !

They got a few bits for Christmas and a recent birthday and were very upset when their "horrible" little brother decided he would plop an entire tin of bath bombs in the bath at the same time! (He was made to replace them) they couldn't have possibly got in the bath but my son said that whole house smelled lovely for days.

Cannot stand the smell either,starts a sneezing fit every time !

Take your Plastic milk bottle lids to Lush they recycle them in to pot for the soap I am all for saving the planet.

Alea you're right about the Poole connection. Lush used to be Cosmetics To Go! I buy their products as gifts and take a solid shampoo with me when I go away.

Ive walked in a few times and walked straight out again as I cant breathe in there! The smells are sooo overpowering!

I find the smell overpowering and it completely puts me off even trying to go in again, I don't understand how it can be so strong.

I've never bought Lush products. I think I'll give it a go after reading this.

I understand it taking anyone's breath away. I have a serious lung condition and I used to give the shop a wide birth. I was driven to go try the products out because I want/need to use more natural things these days. I was fine. It was ok. Asthma is different , I can see that one has triggers.

Unfortunately I am allergic to the smell and have to give the shop a wide berth. I have an asthma attack if I go near it.

Wonderful isn't it, that smell? I always say that our council out to give them a reduction on their business rates just for making the High Street smell so nice! I like their sea vegetable soap, but I haven't had any for a while - about time I went in again!

My eldest DGD is 14 on Wednesday and next Saturday is having a Lush party - at the shop, for her friends. Not sure what that entails exactly. It seems hardly any time since she enjoyed pass the parcel and party games! (No balloons though - she was always terrified of them). The years have gone so quickly but she is still as loving as she was then. We are very lucky.

Funny you should say that annodomini! I was in the former East Berlin a few years ago with DH, came out of the U-Bahn, sniffed and said "There's a Lush somewhere near!"

Distinctive! Many years ago, before they were as widespread I used to go to their shop in Poole (where I think they originated) and come out "infused" with the (lovely) smell.

Ah super gran I will look out for demos. My daughter uses the solid shampoo bars, very trendy I understand. Not for me. Love the purple daddio shampoo. I am wondering how I can persuade the children to buy me gift tokens from lush for Christmas this year. I don't think they have them in Paris though (daughters living there)

I walked out of a hotel in San Francisco shortly after I'd arrived, strolled down the street and immediately identified the unmistakable fragrance of a Lush shop! I like the little tins of solid shampoo which are so convenient for travelling and taking to the swimming pool.
