juneh you didn't get a response on this, so I'm going to read it next. But I just want to announce to Gransnet that as of yesterday morning, I am FREEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now my question is, am I the only Gransnetter to get my divorce under French law?

Yes the 'doing' of it was painful, I am 67 and was married to that man for 29 years and 11 months. I was a faithful, supportive and diligent wife and partner. But hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! I walked out of that courtroom yesterday and it was as if I had opened a huge five barred gate and was looking at a vast sunlit landscape ahead of me.

So off I go to explore!

flowers for speckie, Congratulations. I am in my 2nd, and I feel very lucky to say, happy marriage. I was divorced after 11 years of marriage to my first husband. I put on half a stone within weeks. I found myself again, started to do things I loved with real enthusiasm, I felt free like you do Speckie, it was a glorious feeling - here's wishing the same for you - or even better.

Well done speckie, there's nothing like that feeling of freedom, I still rejoice after 22 years! sunshine

Thank you all so much..tthe answer to why i got my divorce under french law is that after living in a foreign country for over 10 years you lose your British domicile and are therefore required to use the french system which is quicker and cheaper..win win!
