Shall we pray for her? So unfair if she loses her life after being brave enough to go out and nurse Ebola victims.

I wish some of the drug that helped the priest in the US was available for her. sad

Lapwing Sat 03-Jan-15 22:10:19

Yes jinglbellsfrocks I will add her to my prayer list. The people who go out to treat the Ebola victims are so brave.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 03-Jan-15 22:25:44

Yes. They really are.

Mishap Sat 03-Jan-15 22:27:28

A brave lady - let us hope she survives.

POGS Sat 03-Jan-15 22:49:20

Not looking too good for her at this moment in time is it.

All I guess her family can hope for is she suddenly finds the strength to fight for her life and things take a turn for the better. Very sad.

Thinking of her and her family who must be worried stiff. Those who volunteer are very brave.

Is there any further news on the suspected case in Swindon?

Agus Sat 03-Jan-15 23:13:36

I sincerely hope this brave nurse survives. sad

Prayers for her tonight.

And me. sad

Eloethan Sun 04-Jan-15 00:56:20

I am not religious, but this brave woman is in my thoughts.

Teetime Sun 04-Jan-15 10:29:41

I do hope she pulls through poor lady. I can't understand why they cant make some more of the drug surely they have the recipe.

Mishap Sun 04-Jan-15 10:33:08

In terms of public health I did find it surprising that a nurse returning from caring for ebola victims who steps off the plane and says she feels ill was not immediately transferred to isolation and tested for ebola. Taking people's temperatures is clearly not going to be sufficient, as hers was normal.

Let us hope that she will get through this. I am filled with admiration for her bravery - but it does show how virulent this bug is - even a professional taking all the precautions has caught it.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 04-Jan-15 11:03:32

Tegan I think they have to grow a plant for its leaves to get the drug. Like tobacco leaves. So I have been told by he who knows everything son.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 04-Jan-15 11:04:18

Sorry. Teetime!

alternativegran Sun 04-Jan-15 15:45:29

My friends son, who had also been caring for ebola patients, was on the same flight. His parents have asked for prayers, I dont know how many were in the group, but there must be several worried families.

I do hope the reason for Pauline catching Ebola is discovered, such a brave woman.

merlotgran Sun 04-Jan-15 15:56:13

I hope it means there will be a stepping up the screening procedures at airports. This is a warning that must not be ignored.

Still hoping for a happy ending for Pauline and her family.

Marelli Sun 04-Jan-15 17:42:30

She's still struggling on....and her mother can't even hold her hand. sad We can only hope for her and all those who may be affected.

loopylou Sun 04-Jan-15 17:46:47

That's the saddest bit, the non-contact, the family not being able to to give a hug, hold a hand, let alone a kiss.

whitewave Sun 04-Jan-15 17:46:52

I am so hoping that the antibodies will eventually kick in and deal with the bug. Presumably they will take a time to reach a proper level, so fingers crossed she survives until then and lives. as another survivor.

Iam64 Sun 04-Jan-15 20:30:31

Thanks Jing, yes those of us who pray will add Pauline, her loved ones and the other people who travelled with her

Soutra Mon 05-Jan-15 18:09:24

I believe that while she remains seriously ill, her condition has stabilised (BBC online news just a little while ago) so that is a step in the right direction. Let us hope she has turned the corner smile

whitewave Mon 05-Jan-15 18:10:37

Good for the scientists and doctors attending her hopefully they are helping her to win the fight.

Agus Mon 05-Jan-15 18:15:35

That is very hopeful news. Come on Pauline dig deep for every bit of fight someone or your character must have.

Mishap Mon 05-Jan-15 20:15:17

Stabilised sounds promising - we can only hope.

POGS Sat 24-Jan-15 18:18:47

Just wanted to say how lovely it was seeing her interview having fully recovered.

What a super lady.
