Present tense photosynthesis

Just watching a programme about botany and photosynthesis. But I'm being driven mad by the commentary which describes each experiment - which were done 150 years ago - in the present tense. Does anyone else find this infuriating?

I'm beginning to worry about documentaries. Has anyone else noticed that many seem to keep reviewing the previous 5 minutes and others are just so patronising? angry

Too much repetition and padding I agree Granniepam.

Completely maddening! All historical documentaries and discussions now do this. Can't read books written entirely in the present tense, either. Except for
Damon Runyon.

Watching a programme about soil now. It's much better. But still got the maddening 'music' background which also drives me mad. If only there was a way to turn it off. As for 'cute appearance'. Do we really need to be patronised like this?

People are constantly complaining to the BBC about intrusive or inappropriate background music. My DH shouts at the television and radio because he resents his licence fee being spent on performance fees to play distracting music. The programme makers take no notice because they know what is good for us.

Sometimes it's so bad that I switch the sound off and read the subtitles.
