Kamikaze birds

Almost every day for the past week I've been startled by a sudden thudding noise as yet another bird flies straight into a window.

This morning's casualty was a thrush which I found lying on its back and had to flip over. Poor wee thing was stunned, I could almost see the stars circling above its head.

You can easily stop this baubles don't clean your windows! grin

I almost always have a pigeon imprint on my French window (no, it's not the same one, I do clean them off) but fortunately the birds recover and fly away. A couple of times I have discovered a dazed Sparrowhawk too, which had probably been after the inhabitants of the bird feeding station and come a cropper.

You can get silhouettes of birds of prey to stick on your windows to discourage the birds from flying at them.

We had a family of baby blue tits which fledged and were flying around. Within an hour of so they had all crashed into the conservatory glass.

I could understand it if the windows were sparkling but they really aren't.

Good idea, I'll have a look at those Elegran.
