lemongrove I have spent all weekend looking at owls on a live webcam. The little owls and tawny owl have laid eggs .Still waiting for the barn owl.
If you watch long enough you will see the male bring rats and mice into the nest.
There are also cams on white tailed eagles and storks, foxes and garden birds. Some here in Staffordshire and others in Holland.
No good with links but google CJ Live webcams .
But be warned ,it's addictive !

Sitting here listening to tawny owls in the tall treees around us, such a melancholy sound.
Did anyone watch the secret life of owls on tv recently?
It was so good.

I love all owls, but am fascinated with barn owls. They have been proved to be the most silent of any bird on the wing and they are mesmerising when quartering over fields at dusk. I didn’t realise until recently that their plumage is not very waterproof and that prolonged periods of rain affect their ability to hunt, so many starve.

We hear a lot of hooting but suspect it’s the cars racing up the road

Thanks for replies ( including funny ones)?
Thinking about it, it’s more wooing than twitting, so it’s noisy male owls!

The tawny owls in the little wood at the bottom of my garden usually set up home in early February.I love lying in bed listening to them.
But the most common owl is the Teat.wink

I suppose it would be better if it was raining. "Toowettowoo!"

I've heard both male and female tawny owls around here. I think two males might be vying for her attention. It's a lovely friendly sound at this time of night.

Very sweet little owl emoticons!

I have noticed that the birds in general are becoming noisier and I wondered if they are all courting, although I haven't heard our owls yet and hope they are still around here.

I suspect they are suffering from IBS

Irritable (b) Owl Syndrome

?. ?. ?

Lots of hooting going on here as well - at least there is lots of twooing but not much twitting. I seem to remember that it is the males that 'twoo' & the females which screech (or 'twit')....so maybe there are more males around looking for female partners for the coming spring....?

We used to get a lot of owls at our last house. I would stand in them garden, watching them on the neighbouring chimney pots and in the trees, sillouhetted against the sky, hooting to one another. Since we moved, I haven’t seen or heard any.
If there are more owls it’s good news! If it’s the same number hooting more, maybe they’be been partying, in which case, I’ll have what they’re having grin.

We hear owls a lot, particularly at this time of night, but there seem to be either more owls hooting, or the same number hooting more, has anyone else noticed this?
