We were driving today through some countryside with the most spectacular autumn colours on the trees. There were perhaps not many of the vivid reds that predominate in New England, but lovely British colours ranging from a lemon yellow through to a beautiful reddish bronze.
It must be a result of the very hot summer building up the sugars in the leaves. The colours have been very good but today they seemed intense and exceptional - just before rain and blustery winds may bring most of the leaves down from the trees.
I hope everyone has managed to see autumn's glory this year.
