First signs of spring

For some they know that spring is on the way when they first see snowdrops or daffodils. For others it may be the sight of fluffy ducklings or lambs gambolling in fields. But I have a pond in my garden. Spring for me is heralded by the loud croaking and sight of massed tangles of frogs all copulating noisily and energetically in the water. Personally, I prefer the lambs, ducklings and daffodils. How do you know that winter is passing?

When I feel a little warmth in the sunshine and snowdrops of course.

I always feel that Spring is on its way when I see Daffodils and Tulips for sale in the supermarket.

Hazel catkins are the first sign for me, they appear in late January around here, along the canal. Still a way to go until the warmer weather though.

I have a long high hedge in my front garden, which starts at the sitting room wall. The birds use it like an apartment block, and the first sign of spring for me is when they start nesting and pairing off, which they are doing now. It's like Saturday night at the Hacienda out there. They certainly have stamina - the songs of 'do you come here often?' and 'fancy a dance, love?' start first thing and keep going for hours.

Snowdrops in the garden and watching the antics of the Jackdows, this afternoon trying to sit on top of a very high fir in a gale like a fairy on a Christmas tree.

I can't find the photos thread so I'm posting my picture here.
I encountered this flowering currant on my walk this afternoon. Isn't it magnificent?

It's Spring as my friends pond is teeming with frog spawn.
