Thanks for the suggestion - anyone else have any opinions on this?

absentgrana Fri 08-Jun-12 09:56:02

Yes, but I don't think I should state them here. smile

Jacey Fri 08-Jun-12 10:00:42

Josie ...people can decide themselves whether to use it or not ...so don't see why not.hmm

However ...what about an 'Olympics' one?? then they will not appear all over the plave and 'upset' those who are not interested shock

Annobel Fri 08-Jun-12 10:20:17

Oh, I thought jingl was joking or at least stirring the anti-monarchist pot. What on earth is there to say about the vacuous lot that is our royal family? Oh there you are - I've just said it! grin

Ella46 Fri 08-Jun-12 10:26:18

I think we get quite enough in the newspapers anyway. hmm

j04 Fri 08-Jun-12 10:28:46

I wasn't completely joking.

I have thought this before. I think it could be fun interesting.

Bags Fri 08-Jun-12 10:31:42

What about a science one?

glassortwo Fri 08-Jun-12 10:31:43

Cant see what harm it will do and if people are not interested they dont need to read the threads, and I would imagine it will bring about a lot of interesting debates grin

Jacey Fri 08-Jun-12 10:53:48

yes Bags ...I agree about that one too ..but perhaps to call it 'Science and technology' hmm

Anagram Fri 08-Jun-12 10:57:13

The trouble with having separate threads for something like science or the Olympics is that everything would have to be lumped together, and people would probably still start a different thread for their particular interest (as happens already!)

Anagram Fri 08-Jun-12 11:00:27

Oops! Just realised you mean new topics! Although I never take much notice of what a thread's under, I'm afraid....hmm

Bags Fri 08-Jun-12 11:08:12

Happy with that, jacey.

j04 Fri 08-Jun-12 11:11:10

Re the Royal Family one, I guess we need to decide whether we want interesting and fun stuff included, or just a 'Dear Marje' for older folk.

There was a rude version of that, but I refrained.

Anagram Fri 08-Jun-12 11:13:06

Well we certainly want 'interesting' stuff! confused

JessM Fri 08-Jun-12 11:28:30

I mainly think it would be helpful if people were clear about what the thread was about. Must be very confusing sometimes for newcomers to work out what on earth is going on. There are lots of mysterious looking threads on the go these days.
Do you need a whole GN official Topic for the royals - I don't care one way or the other. A Kate thread. A Harry thread. Would it keep jing happy?
I don't think the Olympics needs a separate Topic as there is already a Sports one and if someone wants to start a particular thread about the Olympic Rowing or the Olympic Athletics - then why not. Rowing fans do not necessarily want to discuss Dai Green's form. [welsh flag emoticon] and as an athletics fan I don't want to get bogged down in discussing the weight lifting.
The jubilee did appear to me to be a single event but had multiple threads for some reason, but whether or not the royal family need several threads in future who knows. One for the duke's bladder. Another for Harry's love life. grin
Is there anyone else interested in science except me and thee Bags ?

nanaej Fri 08-Jun-12 11:46:09

I have v limited science knowledge so I would benefit (hopefully) from a Science & Technology topic.

Anagram Fri 08-Jun-12 11:48:15

I love all Bags' climate change information.

nanaej Fri 08-Jun-12 11:51:00

I learned things when I asked about views on GM food too. smile

Jacey Fri 08-Jun-12 12:23:55

Oh Jessm ...you didn't read what I put to Bags sad [invisible] emoticon

Bags Fri 08-Jun-12 13:11:41

grin

Science "club" anyone? Completely inclusive of course, like all of GN.
