Search problems!

What is with the "search" facility? One time I can put in a thread title and find it straightaway, another time it either brings up a ridiculous number of options, or says there are no results! [cross]

Or is it just me? blush

Yes, I have found search to be pretty useless too, but that may be because most of the few times I have used it, the threads I have been looking for have been deleted. If you aren't on a deleted thread yourself, how do you find out that that is what has happened? confused

Hi Phoenix - admittedly the search function is a bit naff blush You can't actually search thread titles, only the contents of the thread. It's one of the things on our tech list to improve (but we have to bake more cakes for bribing the techies first) grin

There's not really a way of knowing a thread has been deleted - unless you have the URL, in which case the deleted message/reason will appear when you try to load the page. This will also happen if you've posted on the thread, you can see the message under the title on 'I'm On'.

Alternatively, you could click 'watch this thread' (in a green box on the right, just above the OP) to watch any threads you don't want to post on. To find the threads, click on 'Watching', next to 'I'm On'.
