Thanks for getting in touch about this and sorry to hear you were having trouble responding. There are 'N/A' or 'do not buy' option across these questions, which we'd recommend selecting if none of the other options apply or resonate with you.

Apologies if you're being asked about the age of your grandchildren after you've said you don't have any - you shouldn't be shown this question if you've answered none, so it looks like there's an error occurring here that we're looking into.

Thanks also for your feedback @Charleygirl5 we'll be taking this on board when putting together future surveys.

Also, there was nowhere to state that one was ill so could not take part in any festivities. The assumption was that everybody had a large family so was either catering for them or going to them to be catered for food-wise.

If I had not been ill I would still have been on my own.

Maybe the survey was not for me because I also do not have grabdchildren.

Thank you wildswan16 glad it's not only me!

You also have a question about how many grandchildren we have - if you answer none, then the next question asks how old they are - so you have to lie to continue the survey as there isn't a "not applicable" answer.

Hello all,

Yet again you have produced a survey that could lead to some of the data being useless!tchangry

One question (which had to be answered) asked when one started planning gifts for grandchildren.

The next asked how much you spent/ budgeted for, with the option to tick zero/nothing.

What about estranged grandparents, or those members of GN who don't have grandchildren? (And yes there are some!)

As someone who in a previous job spent a lot of time designing questionnaires and surveys, if you want valid data (rather than just stuff to feed to companies to assist with advertising) it is important to ensure that you ask the right questions, and give appropriate options for the answers!
