It became clear yesterday evening that it is possible to send a positive report of a post to GNHQ.

I don’t think that actually want people to do it EP
The have enough trouble dealing with proper reports.
There have been threads that have burden reported numerous times that have remained up for days.
Lily was just trying to appease you / us.
They already have all the info that they need and are short staffed too.
That’s my opinion anyway, others are available I’m sure.

Been, not burden

I have reported my own post on occasion to GNHQ when I wanted to ensure what I had written was read by them. You simply specify why you are bringing a post to their attention which doesn't have to be a negative reason.

FannyCornforth Tue 03-Aug-21 08:16:30

Fair play to them, in my experience, they are very quick at taking a post down when you report your own.

I think this is getting silly now. Surely it is enough to just say, as indeed people frequently do, “great thread Mildred!”

The original complainer and thread reporter must be tearing their hair out by now as the threads keep multiplying!!

It is not HQ’s business to have an opinion on threads but to ensure regs are not being broken and they say they do this by investigating any reported posts (“self-moderating”, they call it)
So even if you were to send a “positive report” -what would you expect EP ?
?? or ? or marks out of 10?
Let it go.

Greeneyedgirl Tue 03-Aug-21 09:13:22

A “positive report” is subjective and not representative anyway.

I m just saying that if some people complain about a harmless thread then there exists a facility that some other people can express a positive view if that is their opinion.

The existence of that facility became apparent many pages into a thread, so I thought that a link to that information in the opening post of a new thread would be a good idea so that the existence of the facility could become more widely known.

Knowing about a facility does not mean that one necessarily needs to use it.

Correct. A negative report might sometimes also be subjective.

Apparently it isn’t enough for some.

I hadn’t thought of that!
They have created a monster!

FannyCornforth Tue 03-Aug-21 10:00:25

Things are absolutely fine as they are EP
I think that we have shown that we can survive without getting folk banned/ flouncing / killing each other with minimal input from the management; and are happy with the current circumstances.

La tempête

Oh I love a good flounce.

MawBe Tue 03-Aug-21 10:03:36

It was Mary Shelley not Shakespeare who created a monster., EP

They both did.

FannyCornforth Tue 03-Aug-21 10:06:23

It’s ironic that this was all started by you taking umbrage with GNHQ getting involved regarding your thread creations.
Now you want more interaction with them!
We’re supposed to talk to each other - not them!
Be careful what you wish for EP

MawBe Tue 03-Aug-21 10:07:46

La Comédie des Meprises?

FannyCornforth Tue 03-Aug-21 10:08:27

Yes, it was definitely Shelley that I was alluding to, and the cinematic interpretations

He’s alive!
Or even
Frying tonight!
