Why are we having to log in all the time?

This seems to occur at the start of the year and then stop again, but it may be a coincidence.

Certainly, I don't always have to log in, and the all of a sudden this changes and it is necessary every day.

I am really curious as to why,

Is your cache set to clear at certain times? I only have to log in after clearing the cache, mine is not set to clear automatically.

JackyB Wed 23-Feb-22 14:58:41

I haven't had to log in for ages. Probably the cache as Elizabeth says.

Think I've only had to log in once this year.

I don’t log on only if I ve cleared my cookies

Casdon Wed 23-Feb-22 15:07:27

Have you got the privacy setting on, so your net surfing can’t be tracked?

same here, one of the chief reasons why my computer runs so slow is that it is such a bother when you clear all your cookies and then can't remember log in details.

I log off every day - I thought everyone did that

Willow73 Wed 23-Feb-22 15:33:34

How do you clear all your cookies?
I think I’ve missed something!

Farmor15 Wed 23-Feb-22 15:34:02

I use Gransnet on phone, laptop and iPad. I never have to log in - probably chose option 'keep me logged in' long ago.

Nannyfaraway Wed 23-Feb-22 15:44:09

I don't have to log in even when I haven't been on here for ages. But I use Gransnet on my phone

Callistemon21 Wed 23-Feb-22 16:29:33

I don't understand why others don't log off.

Do you not log out of other sites either?

welbeck Wed 23-Feb-22 16:32:46

yes, i was wondering that. i never log out.
it's not like banking or payment sites.
unless you are worried that someone might come along and see what you have been posting...

BlueBelle Wed 23-Feb-22 16:38:00

I never log off anything that I use regularly, why would you ?

Callistemon21 Wed 23-Feb-22 16:40:53

They log you out automatically if there has been no activity after a set amount of time.

I never log out either but just now I had to put all my details in again even though I’ve got keep me logged in checked, makes no difference!…?

Me too. I never log out of anything, and Apple remembers my details anyway, so if I get logged out (eg of banking) it's just a case of using fingerprint login to get back in. Usually, GN stays logged in, but it didn't today, for some reason.

I can't imagine that anyone would want to sneak into the house, unlock my laptop, find GN in my saved sites and post pretending to be me; but next time I say something daft I'll remember to use that as an excuse?

I never have to log in. It’s all just waiting for me!

henetha Thu 24-Feb-22 10:51:48

I never log in these days. I used to but then realised there is no need.

Blinko Thu 24-Feb-22 19:04:43

I always log out of anything to do with finances. You can't be too careful...

This is precisely what happens to me too, and it did last year at this time too.

But it could have something to do with the fact that a clear my search history after accessing my Internet banking site and other sites such as our Insurance company, I suppose.

I would never consider remaining logged into any financial organisation. If you clear your "History" you will then need to log in again. This makes me think that for those of you saying you never need to log in you never clear your history? really is worth doing every so often.
