Tell Collette Tours what’s stopped you from travelling to certain locations

I really want to go to Australia and NewZealand but the thought of the lengthy journey in economy means Europe wins every year.

Mostly money is stopping me as I couldn’t bear long haul flights in economy. Closer to home I would be worried about safety in Egypt.

I usually travel alone, and really resent the single supplement., which is often out of all proportion compared to the original price, and has occasionally prevented going to somewhere I really fancy.

Safety is also a factor now as I've been in Egypt, Tunisia, Syria not far from the date or location of a terror attack. Much as I'd love to revisit Egypt for the fifteenth time, I haven't been back for some years.

I would love to visit New Zealand, and Australia. The time it takes, as well as the cost has stopped us visiting so far. I would just love to travel far and wide, generally!?

There is a long list of places I would love to visit but I am deterred by the terribly unfair single supplement charges.
I am single not by choice (widowed) and on a fixed income.

There some beautiful countries but I am steering clear of a few where I have been and seen dogs roaming free on the roads (unchecked) and look underfed. Examples are Mexico and Mauritius

I would like to see more of countries that I already have visited. Money is really the main barrier. I would like to explore more of Southern Ireland, Italy, USA and Greece.

It always wanted to visit The Archaeological Site of Leptis Magna in Libya. Having visited Egypt several times and on one occasion close to the Libyan border. I know I will never go in my lifetime because of the how coalition forces destroyed the country.

I have a severe nut allergy and am scared quite frankly as over the years it's worsened. So often restaurants think you're just being fussy or simply don't know which foods are safe for me and I can't take that risk. I have specifically learned 3 foreign languages to help with this, but still worry.

Very expensive single supplements - ending up in a converted cupboard for twice the price and having a superb view of the dustbins.

Economy seat for long haul flights. Even the seats for a flight to Europe have shrunk widthways as well as leg room.

Many places if I discover, or know the airport I will have to use to be very noisy. I can't go as I am sound sensitive at times. Otherwise I would go anywhere at all.

We save up for a more adventurous holiday every 3 years, but now we are in our 60's i think we will have to save a bit harder to be sure we fit more places in. So far we have been to Africa on safari , Thailand and Cambodia, India (triangle + Shimla and this year we are back to India, riding in Assam. There are some places i want to go to but they keep getting pushed back - Denmark and over the bridge to Sweden, a return visit to Iceland, French Canada, and Rugen in north Germany. I think the common factor is they are not warm and expensive to stay in. For the time being we will probably find ourselves ending up somewher e in Southern France/Spain/Portugal once a year to get a bit of sun and relax.

Airports are a complete put off these days so we are doing more UK holidays than before - and quite enjoying them.

For me it's the problem of finding a toilet easily. Pot luck is NOT an option if you have bladder/bowel problems! Australia has a pretty good toilet map which is helpful. I would like to travel more in the UK but the lack of facilities or early closures has put the kibosh on many places where toilets have closed due to financial cut. In other areas there is no clarity as to whether toilets are provided and where they are located.

machu picchu is on my 'bucket list' of places to visit, I see myself as generally fit, but with a knee replacement and arthritis in my other knee, the 4-5 day trek to see the full beauty of this place has stopped me travelling her - plus the cost of the travel insurance after having knee surgery may be excessive. I would consider a walking holiday at a slower pace to see how I cope with days of walking. Thank you.

I would love to see India, there are so many things I want to experience there, the food, culture, the temples and buildings. I had quote for travel insurance which was several hundred pounds - but 'do-able' for a trip of a lifetime. The thing which is stopping me is the number of injections, medicine (hepatitis A, tetanus and typhoid) is my final block. I have a totally irrational fear of needles, and am looking into hypnotherapy to help. Any advise from fellow Gransnetter who have visited and has the immunisations would be very welcome.

I would love to visit India but I am not sure how I would cope with seeing so much poverty. The colours, sites and smells would be amazing and hopefully I will face up to it before I get too old. We went to South Africa this year driving 3500 Kilometres and found that most of the scare stories were greatly exaggerated as long as you use common sense everything was very friendly and easy. Using an excellent travel agent that knew the country was a great help.

Love to visit Egypt but scared of the problems they have and would not feel safe.

Money, time and the places to go. I would not travel to a middle eastern country for safety reasons and as I am not very good at languages I would go to where English was at least understood

I feel restricted because my husband won't travel and I fear going on my own. Other problems are increasing frailty means travel is more exhausting (I'll never reach Machu Pichu now) and worry about visiting some parts of the world such as Egypt. Finally, some places are financially out of reach. I'd love to go to the Galapagos or Easter Island but it's not within in my budget.

India would also be my choice, but I am governed by the cost, especially when travelling alone. And could I cope with it now, in my eighties?
Also, a cruise to the Norwegian ffiords is on my bucket list, but single cabins are ridiculously expensive. And I could never share with a stranger.

I won't travel to countries that are not safe. Full stop?
