They might seem like bricks and mortar, but homes hold a lot of memories that make you feel attached to them. But the desire to move home - whether that’s to be closer to family, to have more money to do the things you love, or to achieve a more relaxed lifestyle - can outweigh that attachment, and Willerby would like to hear about what encourages you to consider a home move.

Here’s what Willerby has to say: ‘Willerby has been creating homes for over 70 years and are exceptionally experienced when it comes to making quality homes that are truly built to last. Our designers have created the perfect blend of style and practicality in all our park homes with amazing space saving ideas, luxurious touches and beautiful interiors and exteriors. Our park homes are built to last and offer stylish, low maintenance living for those who want to paint landscapes, not the hallway! View, download or order your brochure here. Get inspiration and details for our range of homes.’

Do you move home often for a change in scenery? What makes you think about moving now? Would it be to downsize? Release money for retirement? To achieve a more relaxed lifestyle? Perhaps you’d consider moving to be closer to family? Or maybe it’s appealing because you get the freedom to start from scratch with your design ideas?

Whatever the things that make you consider moving home, share on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one GNer will win a £200 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I'd consider moving if I could have a smaller one bed home. ♥

essexgirl46 Tue 30-Jun-20 21:23:47

I can't wait to move away from my noisy neighbours. The only thing that worries me is passing my problem onto someone else.

newgolddream71 Tue 30-Jun-20 22:17:26

to be near my grandchildren

A month ago my partner of 23 years informed me that he no longer wanted us to be a couple. The house is now on the market, once sold we shall buy separate homes.

We wanted to try and move this year but with the whole covid 19 it won't be possible we are looking to move next year and just need to save a bit more but we will get there.

i would love to move as we have extremely noisy neighbours, unfortunately we just do not have the money at the moment. My dream would be to move somewhere really quiet and remote, somewhere where I could totally chill out

Taylor46id Tue 30-Jun-20 23:26:25

We would love to move to a smaller more modern affordable home which needs no work where we both can live out our days in peace quiet and countryside away from life’s hustle and bustle, just a simple life is all that’s needed not materialistic things all said good luck everyone ?

it would be the community feel of another place which would tempt me to move I have very few friends locally in spite of living here 25+ years!
I'd like to move b4 I'm too old & find a new community & hopefully some friends. I'd probably try things out by renting at first

Being a Military family, we have moved many times, some enforced, some by choice and there's always the same excitement of moving somewhere new - new beginnings, new adventures, new home smile

I live in a big house with a large garden, and struggle with doing the housework and gardening. I would move to a smaller property closer to my family.

The thing that would encourage me to move would be to somewhere detached. We had “neighbours from hell” next door a few years ago and it was truly horrible.

If we were going to move, I’d buy detached even if it was microscopic!

I’m lucky as we only have one step to climb from the front of my house but the back we have quite a few steps so we have to be careful especially now we are Now pensioners. I would love to move to a bungalow with a little garden where there are no steps to climb . Maybe if I win on the lottery i would consider

A small bungalow,a sea view. Distance from neighbours. A small garden for my small dog. A small, heaven on earth.

I am wondering about Norwich, especially as I have family there. Compact city, fascinating history, great shops, easy to walk around, lovely country nearby, University of East Anglia, what’s not to like?!

Long sandy beach sounds good delwick... Sold the family house a few years ago and currently living in a flat we had originally bought as an investment as I don't have a proper pension. I used to quite like the feeling that there were other people in the building, just the odd door closing or creak from above. We've been happy here until we got new people downstairs who continually complain about the noise. We are not noisy, we asked the previous occupants and they had no issues, it's just an old building and we can't stop the joists squeaking. We have carried out work to mitigate the sound but the downstairs neighbours want total silence, which is impossible in an old converted house. Really hoping they move first so we can relax. However, we have been looking around ourselves and realise we can afford a small house in the city and then sell the flat and buy a small place on the coast, so that's our longer term plan. At first I was upset that we were effectively being pushed out of our flat but now I see it as a new adventure!

I live a long way from most of my family-we nearly all moved for work. I would love being nearer to some of the family.
I would love to live near the sea , as a child I did ,my father still lives there. The view there is wonderful and a five minute walk to the beach.
A view of the sea ,cliffs, beaches and wildlife would be ideal.
A lovely cottage or bungalow that doesn't need much alteration or building work. with a nice garden ,
A new house may have all of these ,it is a tall order1

We have been in this house for 21 years. We still have two adult children at home and a 14 year old! When the older boys leave home we will downsize to free up some money for our old age. A Willerby home would be ideal but we would want to stay in the same area and I don’t know what will be available.

I'm the same with everything - as soon as something goes wrong I want to change - cars, electrical appliances, houses! There's a lot needs doinmg on mine now and I'm seriously considering moving instead.

Living nearer to what we enjoy in life and what is convenient.

sevenkidsnotv Sat 04-Jul-20 13:17:37

We are in a 2 bed bungalow which is perfect for us at our ages. I am registered disabled and struggle with stairs so we moved to the bungalow 14 years ago. The only way I could ever see us moving would be if we won a load of money and moved to a bungalow by a beach, but that is just a dream.

ladyraven Sun 05-Jul-20 00:10:51

Definitely a lottery win would allow me to cherry pick just what I want in a house...library!!

avril10 Sun 05-Jul-20 09:34:12

The only thing that could make me leave our family home would be a health or age issue, though an affordable bungalow might do it!

genie10 Sun 05-Jul-20 10:05:44

It would be ice to move nearer the coast but anywhere to settle when getting older would have to have access to good local facilities, transport etc.

Hkins Sun 05-Jul-20 11:42:33

There are five steps down from our kitchen into our lounge and it becomes increasingly difficult to carry a cup of coffee and a plate down without spilling a few drops. There are also more steps to reach the bedrooms. I think we will have to consider moving eventually to live without stairs.

We have lived in our house now for 2 and a half years. We moved to have the type of house we wanted. It's in a quiet lane and yet still close to the town. We would consider downsizing to release money if it was in a nice quiet location and the right type of house for us again (for example with a spare room for if family come to stay). As my husband is handy, we would consider buying an investment property that needs a little work, but we are beyond doing too much work so not too much of a project.
