As a regular swimmer at my local pool in the steam afterwards we have been talking about the inconsistency of charging for pensioners for swimming. In fact, at our local pool in Crawley Sussex there is a reduction for pensioners but my most local pool in Horsham,Sussex holds out against reducing charges for pensioners. Of course others regale us with tales of the free charges for pools in the land of milk and honey of London and suburbs. It would be interesting to know other peoples stories and in fact, if there is a case for naming and shaming pools such as my local one in Horsham or elswhere in the country.

It looks like you should be looking at the Poole area rather than North Norfolk Lillie!

My little grandson has just started at the Burgess Hill pool which is great. I've just turned 60 so I will now investigate my local pools in Eastbourne but there is a very plush gym near me too.

Local hotel health club, 41 pounds a month off peak. This includes use of 2 gyms, various classes and lovely pool and spa facilities. I use it mainly for the pool about 3 times a week and think it's good value for what I need. Clean and friendly.

Just taken my DGS to our 'local' pool 16 miles away ( his mum usually takes him) and discovered that there is an offer on for us older folks. £12 a month for unlimited swimming. In July and August two children can go too. It is an annual contract but seems excellent value to me. Shame it takes half an hour to get there.
