I thought this a good idea

@MichaelRosenYes
I propose an Olympics for the over-70s (further sections for over-80s, -90s, 100s).
To avoid heart attacks and other forms of dropping dead, the sports would be eg toe-nail cutting, best dishwasher loading, memorising shopping lists, stone-paper-scissors, TV switcher use etc.

I would add best time at going up the stairs (with bad back)

Love it! I don’t think I’d qualify though, except for toenail cutting grin

I'll add 'Turning off GN and going and doing something useful' category
grin

Callistemon Wed 04-Aug-21 10:21:25

And I'm off .....
?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 04-Aug-21 10:31:09

Well that’s good as I have got six years to train for something?

Witzend Wed 04-Aug-21 10:36:01

May I please add feet up on the sofa with a book, while also thinking about doing something useful instead?

Getting out of a chair (with bad back) category

Putting socks and or trousers on in a standing position…

FannyCornforth Wed 04-Aug-21 11:08:14

Similar to Lauren Hubbard, can I be considered for qualification?
I currently self-identify as ‘Over 70’, due to having several shared key physical characteristics.

Applying fake tan whilst sitting on the loo which is the optimum height when wearing varifocals.

Ten points deducted for each streak.

Twenty points deducted for forgetting to wash your hands.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 04-Aug-21 11:10:55

At the moment I self identify with the over 90s.

So I’d like to enter the biscuit dunking competition.

I have loved reading all these ideas ....... can I add the taking off a bra without getting undressed event? grin

Nanna58 Wed 04-Aug-21 11:38:36

Stooping without grunting, followed by advanced sitting down in a low chair without going”oooff!” ?

I like that one Witzend

Vacuuming without having to stop for a breather halfway through.

Highest number new jars unscrewed without
A) asking OH
B) stabbing the lid with a knife
C) deciding you don’t need it anymore

I've just competed in the Individual Bedlinen Changing event.

First of all I got several time faults, then they announced I'd been eliminated for lying down in the middle of the course for a breather halfway round.

As a former gold medallist in this event, I feel humiliated.

M0nica Wed 04-Aug-21 14:06:01

Hate the whole idea.

Callistemon Wed 04-Aug-21 14:23:31

I don't think it's meant to be serious M0nica!!

I’ve been known to stop several times and look at GN…

I think I would be disqualified grin

The whole house/one room/the dog’s bed?

M0nica Wed 04-Aug-21 16:31:24

I know it is not serious, but I still hate the whole idea.

The reaching for things on high shelves and low shelves without complaining.
No medal for me on this one
