Can anyone recommend a good - long- raincoat?

I have a Regatta warm lined waterproof jacket, which needs replacing. I would prefer to get a longer style this time, but the ones I’ve seen - in Seasalt for instance - are hugely expensive. Is it worth investing? Are they good? Or any other recommendations? Thanks

Have a look at Drizabone or similar. I kept one for dog walking when it was very wet weather.

Blimey - just seen how expensive they are now! Mines 20 years old, but there are similar ‘stockman’ or ‘rider’ styles available in other outlets.

Thanks - though not keen on that style, although I’m sure they’re very practical.
Just looking now at Cotton Traders - bit cheaper.

I have a Sea Salt one, and it is beautiful.
I bought it to celebrate a new job.
There was recently £60 off all of their rain coats.
Lots of other retailers sell Sea Salt, so it’s worth shopping about as the price does vary

Thanks, Fanny - I like the look of those, especially with the “dip” at the back - but can’t find them cheaper.

I got a Jack Wolfskin about 7 years ago and wear it every day in winter come rain come shine. It still looks good but I did find it pricey at the time and it has proved itself to be a good investment.

You could have a look on ebay perhaps?

Thanks, yes - just doing that now.

Seasalt have an eBay shop.

Tog 24 have a sale on, so worth a look...

Sea salt are expensive BUT I’m thrilled with my coat. I bought it in the sale earlier this year for £70. Waterproof, wind proof, knee length, warm lined, hooded and it has a fishtail style back. Don’t particularly like the colour but it is just my dog walking coat. Will definitely buy another in next sale.

I’ve just found this
EBay has an official site

Ebay is a jolly good idea. Just bought a Joules top at £6 cheaper than Joules. Labels on sent direct from Joules . 220130.

Sarah74 Thu 24-Nov-22 13:41:13

I think £70 would be ok, but I can’t see any Seasalt ones at that price. Maybe I’ll wait for their sale.

growstuff Thu 24-Nov-22 13:42:27

Can you wait a little while?

I bought a long Regatta jacket/coat in the sale between Christmas and New Year last year. From memory, the RRP was about £120, but I got it for just over £30. I love it.

I'm hoping there will be some real sale bargains this year because retailers are struggling as the recession bites.

Yes, I think that’s what I’ll do!

You might find something in Black Friday sales. Go Outdoors have one. Also go to Regatta outlet who always seem to have sales.

midgey Thu 24-Nov-22 13:53:28

I have just bought one from Marks, twenty per cent off at present, so it was sixty nine pounds. I am very pleased with it so far, it does have that vital two way zip.

Joseanne Thu 24-Nov-22 14:16:50

I bought this one from Seasalt last week and can recommend it. It is very cosy. It is plenty long enough with the tail at the back and what is nice is that you can undo the zip from the bottom too.
I think it was around £160 but I got 35% off as my DS paid as he has a Forces card.

There are lots on eBay Sarah
Some are under £50 and they are brand new.
Look at the link I’ve posted and then go to the Sea Salt shop.

I think mine is a Plant Hunter, but without the fluffy lining

This one is £52 and available in all sizes from 8 to 28 smile

Lighthouse worth looking at. Both my daughters and I have bought raincoats/jackets from them and they seem good quality. Better than Cotton Traders one I bought a few years ago which wasn't a good fit.

kittylester Thu 24-Nov-22 14:45:02

I have a few Seasalt waterproof coats and have always found them very reliable. My Cotton Traders wasn't waterproof enough all the time.
