iPads and other tablets are wonderful devices (and time wasters smile) for adults and older children. There are now so many apps that can be used with very young children but are they a technology step too far for little ones? Should responsible grand parents be promoting such things??

If you had asked me 6 months ago I would have said they were too much for young children, but having witnessed my youngest grand daughter (22 months) carefully fetch the laptop from the living room and then stand on it to reach the sink I think children will let you know when they need tech smile

I thought it was a post about medication.

Glad it is not about medication. If this was saga zone it would be. I like the ipad but can't afford it. I use it while visiting my daughter. However I have an android phone and love it.

I visited the saga forums once. They can be a bit rude you know!

I actually enjoy the saga forums, they have a wider discussions corridor than what appears to be here, but ive only been on both sites (this one and saga ) for a couple of days. so perhaps im missing something here.

I should imagine that it will be up to us the users of the site to widen the discussions, Through some ideas in the ring or start a new topic and see what happens.

I've recently bought a 8" tablet and love it!
I use it to read ebooks and play what my son describes as 'silly games'.
It occupies the 4 boring hours I frequently spend on flights backwards and forwards from home to the Uk. It's much easier to carry than a reading book + mp3 player + sudoku games machine that I used to struggle with and it's far more versatile.
I can relax with it in the evenings instead of sitting in front of my desktop pc.
I love it! And now hubby wants one too!

Had anyone managed to get their hands on a BlackBerry playbook?

Lucyjordan...what is it we're not discussing that we should be? Please start a discussion now! Or at least tell us so someone else can.

Just ordered a Kindle from Amazon. Will comment on it after I've had a chance to check it out.
Got my copy of 'Shrimp and Benny' and looking forward to the opportunity to discuss it later.

I'd love an ipad. (Twinset I thought this thread was about medication too) smile
I've got a Kindle and it's the best thing I've ever bought, well best present ever bought for me, I wouldn't be without it now.
