Gransnet, could we have a few more smilies to liven up our posts please, here are a couple of suggestions:-

As we are supposed to be cutting down on wine how about [cup of tea]
and so we can say hello/goodbye [wave].

Anyone else got any suggestions?

I'd like a "like" or "agree" button

Magsie Wed 22-Jun-11 22:40:46

Agree with yogagran

Grumpyoldwoman Wed 22-Jun-11 23:26:27

me too...I often like someones comment but 2 pages on it is hardly worth mentioning it.
Definitely a 'like' button as Facebook.
Are many Gransnetters on Facebook ???

harrigran Thu 23-Jun-11 00:30:41

I am on facebook and so is Annika and I do believe pompa is too.

Just to let you know, a cup of tea is in the works, and we'll pass on the suggestion about a 'like' button. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Magsie Thu 23-Jun-11 10:16:37

I would really appreciate a "like" buttton. It encourages you to contribute to the forum if you get a bit of positive feedback. If someone makes a witty or relevant post, you can compliment it without clogging up the thread.

Notsogrand Thu 23-Jun-11 10:30:15

I think a 'like' button would be good, and I'm sure it would be well used.

hormonesnomore Tue 12-Jul-11 21:36:37

A 'like' button is a great idea, I vote for that too.

jangly Tue 12-Jul-11 21:42:56

Am I going mad? Has there been another thread about a like button? Or have I been posting in my dreams???

jogginggirl Tue 12-Jul-11 23:17:31

Voting for a like and a not like button...............?

hormonesnomore Sat 23-Jul-11 22:47:50

jangly there was a thread about this on Mumsnet recently. Maybe you read that one?

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 11:02:07

Oh I wonder Hormones! Could have been, although I don't venture over there much now.

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 11:03:19

Oh yes jogginggirl - you've got it! That's right. Phew! Not in my dreams then. grin

GeraldineGransnet (GNHQ) Sun 24-Jul-11 12:22:17

jangly, you're not dreaming: there was a discussion about like buttons on another thread. At the risk of boring everyone, this is (roughly) what we said there:

Sorry, realise this has come up before. We've thought long and hard about it and tried to draw on the Mumsnet experience. The main reasons we're not so keen (we don't like likes!) are that having a like button doesn't encourage conversation, that it can lead to hierarchies, with people competing for likes, and that it encourages cliqueyness (I'll like you if you like me). Now, we realise that gransnetters aren't like that with their liking (OK, OK, enough liking) and that sometimes people just want to signal appreciation, but our starting point is always what makes this as open and democratic, free-form and dynamic a forum as it can possibly be?

Tell us if we're wrong. Well, you will, obviously. Equally, tell us if you like.

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 12:31:13

he he he!!!

I totally agree.

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 12:31:37

oh, and I'm not on here. I'm cooking the dinner.

jangly Sun 24-Jul-11 12:36:54

"dynamic" !!!

hopeful emoticon.

grin

bikergran Sun 24-Jul-11 15:21:56

how about a "laughter" smiley..I know we have a grin! and a smile..! smile

Jacey Mon 22-Aug-11 16:29:11

GNHQ ...can we have a "can't stop laughing" emoticon please ...don't like the text one ...lol
It's just that some of the posts do make me laugh ...in the nicest possible way
bikergran also suggested this back in July ...but you've not responded

JosieGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 22-Aug-11 16:52:34

Hi jacey, sorry to hear we didn't respond about that one - that's not like us at all!

Great to hear your suggestions - do we have lots of fans of the 'can't stop laughing' emoticon?

And what would it look like??

Baggy Mon 22-Aug-11 17:27:47

It would look like a person ROFL-ing! grin

Helpful, aren't I?

Not.
