Help! I have put Skype on my iPad. But for the life of me I can't see how you put credit on. The drop down box where it says credit doesn't take you to anything.
If someone does reply, please make sure it is words of one syllable. No offence meant. Smile.

Why do you want to put credit on? I believe you only need to pay if you are going to phone somebody from your iPad.
Sype calls pc to pc, with or without camera, are free of course.

I have just had a Skype call with friends in France - video call - all you need to do is to add people to your contacts list and click the video call button which should come on the screen.

Should have added that we pay nothing - too quick hitting the button!!

I use Skype fairly frequently and agree with the others - it's free. I do sometimes get emails from Skype suggesting that I put credit into my "account" so that I can call land lines too, but I just ignore them and keep making free calls.
There's also a useful app called WhatsApp which let's you text and send pictures anywhere in the world for free. Very useful if you have family abroad as you normally have to pay for texts sent abroad but with this app it's free

Thanks for replies. I have to have credit as its the cheapest way I can call OH on his mobile when he's abroad.
The problem is that there is nothing on the screen to put credit on. Also I can't find how to add contacts.
Wasn't life simple before we were given all these " toys"

Your OH could download the Skype app to his smart phone, assuming he has one.
That way you could still video call him for free. I would suggest he uses a free wi fi hot spot though, as I am not sure how efficent or economical a video call would be on 3G.

You want face time on an iPad. It works very well. Free too of course.
So useful when family is not nearby..

I use skype credit to have a landline style number and to call other numbers sometimes. I've just looked on my ipad.

If you log in to skype, at the top there is a little icon top left of three little white lines.

If you click this it brings out a little sliding bar which should have your picture at the top (next to your name).

If you click this it opens another "Profile" box and halfway down there it tells you your Skype credit, clicking this gives me my balance and the ability to add more. tho it seems to only be £2.99

another option is to log in to your account at skype.com in the safari browser and find your account settings there. Here you can set an option to Auto-Recharge your account when it gets low.

hope that helps
