Apps on an I pad

I have just bought myself an i pad mini because I found the screen on my iphone too small to see properly.
Will I have to buy all my favourite apps again?
Do I need to go to the App Store and install even the free apps like Skype or will they magically appear on my I pad if I sync it to iTunes on my laptop?

All your Apple devices should sync all the apps but I can't tell you how to check!

Just go to the App store and click on updates - all your purchases will be there, asking if you want to update or reinstall. You don't have to pay again.

Thanks for the advise. I have downloaded a couple of "TV catch up" apps onto my i pad but have discovered they have also appeared on my
i phone. I will not watch a tv programe on my little phone screen but if I delete them off the phone will they also disappear off the i pad, I wonder?

No, I don't think they will!

They might. Try downloading then deleting something short that you don't really want to watch anyway and see what happens.

If they have re-appeared on your phone, if you press and hold the individual app it will start to shake and then you can select to remove it. This will not remove it or the data from your computer, but just your phone.

You can update via itunes which apps you would like individually on your phone and on your ipad.

itunes seems to update quite a lot and the layout may have changed, so it's hard to explain exactly where to go to do this, but there should be some clear menus when you plug in your device.

Hope this helps!
