Good afternoon all, I hope someone can help!

I need to create and then print a sheet of paper with lines that I can put under a sheet of ordinary paper to use as a guide so that the lines I write say on track, instead of going all over the place!

The idiot who "sorted" my pc out managed to load it with an old crappy version of Microsoft Office

Any ideas???

If you google 'lined paper to print' you'll come up with loads of options, phoenix!

Here's one:

As far as I can remember on a Word document you click on 'Insert' then select 'Grid' then number of rows ( however many lines you want) then number of columns and choose 1.Hope this helps. It's a very long time since I did it!

Ceesnan Tue 02-Jun-15 15:37:09

Ana your method looks much simpler!

Anne58 Tue 02-Jun-15 15:37:22

Thanks Ana , but I don't think it will come out dark enough to be seen through the ordinary paper on top.

Anne58 Tue 02-Jun-15 15:39:18

Cees when I go to Word and click on "insert" Grid is NOT one of the options!

Charleygirl Tue 02-Jun-15 15:40:23

If it does not come out dark enough phoenix you may have to go over each line using a ruler and biro. Ceesnan's method is the one that I use.

Phoenix In a quite old version of office. I just drew lines by pressing shift and the line button keeping my finger on the button.

Open Microsoft Word go to the toolbar. Click on Format: Paragraph and you can alter the line spacing to suit.

You can make the type bold as well by hitting the B on the format text tool bar.

I hope it works I have got to go out right now let me know if it works.

Anne58 Tue 02-Jun-15 15:50:03

OK Nellie , but now the bold button doesn't seem to be available!

Ana Tue 02-Jun-15 16:02:03

If you use Nellie's method and use something like font size 20 that makes the lines heavier.

Ana Tue 02-Jun-15 16:02:38

The bold button will be there somewhere! grin

A4 air mail paper comes with a heavy lined insert to put behind the sheet you write on. Also I think Lion brand plain writing paper in the A 4 size do that as well.have you time to go shopping?

Anne58 Tue 02-Jun-15 16:08:51

grin I absolutely HATE this horrid, ancient version of Word! Things are either in a different place, or not there at all!

I have just spent a happy few minutes with a narrow black felt tip and a ruler, well, if I'm honest not exactly a ruler, rather the cardboard from the back of a paper pad blush and I can just about see the lines through a plain piece on top.

I have also discovered that we are completely out of "office" type envelopes, so will need to buy a pack tomorrow.

Anne58 Tue 02-Jun-15 16:10:52

Hello Stans I will have to go shopping for the envelopes at least, so will see if the shop has either of those options.

I am thinking of delivering it in person, that solves the postal delay.

I hope he didn't charge you for an up-to-date version of Word.

My new laptop (four years ago) had a sampler version of Word 2010, which self-destructed just as I was getting used to it. I was horrified at the price of actually buying it, so I downloaded Open Office (free) It is almost the same as Word/Excel/etc and the files are compatable from one to the other.

phoenix I think you should add this to your list of achievements on your CV, then they can see that you are resourceful, inventive and tenacious wink grin

Anne58 Tue 02-Jun-15 17:43:00

Thanks Mini grin I think I might add rodent management too, if you would care to peruse my recent activities in that department................

Charleygirl Tue 02-Jun-15 18:01:50

phoenix that is why you care for two cats- were the mice alive or dead? Thankfully Tara seems to have given up that pastime.

Ceesnan Tue 02-Jun-15 18:06:25

Sorry Phoenix I've obviously confused it with something else. As I said, it was a very long time ago!

Ana Tue 02-Jun-15 18:11:03

Just had a look in Word and 'insert table' works in the same way, Ceesnan.

Ceesnan Tue 02-Jun-15 18:22:35

Oh that seems to ring a far off bell! Thank you Ana.

MiniMouse Tue 02-Jun-15 18:43:55

phoenix have just perused grin Your household is as bonkers as mine! I have fond hmm memories of my kitten bringing a wood pigeon (the size of a small planet) in through the catflap shock and the ensuing snowstorm of feathers that floated dementedly throughout the house!

Katek Wed 03-Jun-15 10:00:49

I've never worked out how my big bruiser of a cat - who only just gets his tum through the cat flap - managed to get an adult rabbit through it and let it loose in the kitchen. Cue lots of rabbit stalking with tea towels and an angry cat scratching at the other side of the door to get back in.

Charleygirl Wed 03-Jun-15 11:38:01

A couple of years ago I was sitting eating my supper on a tray on my lap and watching TV. I had just started to eat when Tara came bouncing through the cat flap with a takeaway and sat on the floor beside me crunching this pesky mouse! Luckily there was only the liver for me to clear up. Not my best supper.

Yuk!
