I plugged my Ipad in to charge this afternoon, and it will not accept a charge. We tried plugging it into DH computer, and still nothing. So I suppose it is a trip into the Apple store tomorrow. I feel lost without it, sad. I am now having to use the Asus. Hs anyone got any bright ideas please? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a break in the charging wire, they are quite thin. This is why my iPad wouldn't charge had to get a new charging wire. My GS wasn't too gentle disconnecting the wire his mother's was damaged too. Cost £15 about, but believe you can get a cheaper one in Aldi.

I read that it may help to let its charge run right down till it switches itself off, then leave it switched off while charging until you think it will be fully charged.
Could be worth a try.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I do fancy a trip into town and a look round John Lewis smile as well.

Have you tried the hard reset Auntieflo? Its the first thing to try , press both the on/off button and the home button down at the same time and hold till it goes off and then switches on again with the Apple logo.

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago with my mini iPad. I did exactly what FarNorth has suggested and it worked.

Sometimes the little port where the charger goes in gets worn. That's what happened mine - a little jiggle in the right direction usually brings up the charging icon on mine.

You should never let a device's battery run right down. It's very bad for it.

Maybe the battery has failed.

Sometimes it's the charging cable that's the problem. Minibags has worn out several ?

Thanks to all for helpful suggestions. OH did the technical wiggling of plug, cleaning of socket (blowing into it), scratching of pate, bald, cold starting, turning off and leaving plugged in overnight. Anyway, she, my Ipad, is at this minute, fully charged and raring to go. So am I. Park car, bus into town, whizz hmmm? round John Lewis, coffee in Pret a Manger, spicy snacks for clever OH from Sainsbugs, and home again. Sounds an OK morning. ?. Oh, and probably pick up a spare lead from the Apple store. Just in case.

I had the same problem with my iPod last year.
The tech person in the Apple store very quickly diagnosed a bent pin in the charging bit. Outcome was a nice new iPod for me ... they do offer cheaper refurbs though. smile

Hopefully this won't happen to you ... unless you want a sparkly new iPad!grin

Well, my Ipad did charge up, after OH had 'fiddled' around with it. I still paid a visit to the Apple store, really for a bit of back up and helpful hints. I wasn't impressed. Before when we have been into the store, all the young staff on duty were so helpful. I don't know what was up with the chap we saw yesterday, Monday morningitis?maybe. He just didn't seem at all interested, and seemed to want us gone ASAP. His eyes were everywhere but looking at us. Hope we do not have to encounter him again, as he is not representative of the usual service .
